From a news release issued Dec. 6, 2006, by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association:
The Tour, which made its debut in 2000, will take on a different format than previous years for the 2007 season. Currently, 21 rodeos have been selected to be included in the Tour program. Contestants will have the opportunity to count 15 of those rodeos toward qualification into a new Playoff system.
At the conclusion of the 21st rodeo, the top 35 contestants in each event in total Tour money and the Wild Card, the event champions from the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo, will move on to the first Tour Championship event. From there, the top 22 in total Tour money in each event, as well as the Wild Card from the DNCFR and the champion from the first Tour Championship event will advance to the field of 24 to the second Tour Championship event. At the conclusion of that rodeo, the field will be cut to 12, then to eight. The Championship sites will be released at a later date. Fox Sports Network and CBS are scheduled to televise the Championship events only.
