This is what Shane Drury posted on his site today.
12/13/05**NEW** Well the news nobody wanted to hear came today. My time here is limited. Cancer has taken up home all over in my body. I have about a two inch mass in my head, which has been giving me headaches and causing pain. I also have a mass in my abdomen. I really don't know what to say. What do you say?
God Bless You All, Your Friend, Shane Drury
(Shane has been at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, for the past 2 days having routine tests. More news will be posted in the coming days.)
I have no clue what to say right now. When I read this I went up to my room and just started cryin. I'm about to start cryin as I type this...some people might think that's crazy because I've never met him but ever since I've know about Shane and who he is, he's been an inspiration in my life. Ask me who I look up to and he is at the top of my list and he always will be. I pray for him and his family everynight. I hope I get to meet him sometime soon.
-Nat

That is very sad news. I met Shane after he won the bull riding and set the arena record (95) at the Reno Rodeo a few years ago. Two years later, after his first battle with cancer, the Reno Rodeo flew he and Hope to town and presented a check to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund for $10,000 on his behalf. He and Hope are both wonderful people and they are in my prayers.

I'm really at a loss for words right now. The first thing I did after I checked my email a couple of minutes ago I went to his sight to check his blog and see how he was doin like i do everyday and the first thing I saw was where he passed away and I just busted out in tears. Although never knew Shane in person and never got to meet him, he has made a huge impact in my life in ways people may never understand. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. I know I sure will.

I agree. I couldn't believe it myself when I read it. Though I never got to see much of him on TV (I know he did qualify for the 2000 NFR), he will sure be missed. I cannot imagine what his family and friends are feeling right now, but I'm sure it's all pain, grief, and heartbreak.
My prayers also go out to him. At least he is with God now, and is in peace. RIP.
