Wow! That's all I can say about Dr. Proctor's two outs this weekend in Reading, PA. He made Chris Shivers and Matt Bohon look like amateurs, and he has made others look the same way.
I didn't take his chances to win BOTY too seriously because I didn't think he would get enough outs. However, his owners are hauling him to the east coast quite frequently, and he is certainly in the top two or three in my book.
As far as I'm concerned, he has passed Just a Dream for sure. Pandora's Box, Smokeless Wardance, Scene of the Crash, Big Bucks, etc. all have a good chance, but the Dr. is definitely in the thick of things.

I really like Sir Patrick as well. I was surprised a little with Scardy Cat. He had been ridden a few times, but his trip was awesome as well!
Sir Patrick is a bull that will be around for years to come, as will the Dr.

Thrash-Way back at the beginning of the year-right after I attended the Fresno event, I posted about the good Doctor P. I had proclaimed him unridable then. That is holding up still. At that event there was Pandora's Box , and yet Dr. Proctor was so intense and powerful that I had a feeling he would become legund. Before that, High Tide was my fav Bull.
So yep-BOTY me tinks...

Yep, Dr Proctor is a bull to be reckoned with. Did you hear Chris Shivers compare him with Bodagious!! Lordy I loved watching that ride Justin put up on Red Jacket. That was fun to watch, and would even be more fun to watch him ride Scaredy Cat. And I have waited so long to see the little guy Coyote and big old Danny Schlobohm had to draw him, sure was silly looking. #rofl79#

And I have waited so long to see the little guy Coyote and big old Danny Schlobohm had to draw him, sure was silly looking. #rofl79# Yeah, Danny didn't have a chance on Coyote. That's just an awful matchup. I'm not sure Jody Newberry has covered Coyote either, or any of the tall guys for that matter. It's a tough chore for any rider, but especially the tall ones.

I don't think height of the rider matters much with Coyote. Taller guys like Owen Washburn and Tony Mendes have covered Coyote. As well has Willis Trosclair and Colby Yates all of which IMO are taller guys. Shorter guys have bucked off including Chris Shivers and Mike White (each at least twice). I really think you just have to be on your game when trying to ride him. Coyote is just a great bull
One important thing about Danny, he isn't just tall. In person he is BEEFY. I mean the kid is 6'4" and 210 lbs. I would have guessed him at more than 210lbs though.

Coyote's worst trips were the ones with the tall guys. He was 21.8 or lower with all those guys you listed. So the trips obviously weren't spectacular. Then again, they probably just overpowered the little fella. The little guys definitely score better on him though. As for 210 being beefy for a 6'4" guy, I hope not. I'm 5'9" and 205. What the heck does that make me? Maybe they have his weight too low.

Thaty was my point about how I would have guessed him at more than 210. I saw him in person and he was def. a lot bigger than all the other guys (and I am not talking height). Even if that weight is right, he is only 2 inches taller than Jody (6'2" and 180lbs) but 30lbs more. Owen Washburn is 6'2" as well and 175lbs. That is a lot cosidering Jody is almost a foot taller than Brian Canter but only 60lbs more (if you go by the PBR stats.)
My point was, that he is beefy in bull riding terms. He is more like a Adriano but on a much taller frame.
About Coyote... I never said his trips were better/worse. I was pointing out taller guys have covered him.

Nearly all the bulls that were purchased from Harlan Roberston dont buck as well on the PBR tour. They may not be flanking them right or something of that nature. Texas Jack and Little Lobo used to be some bad hombre's before they were sold.
Dr. Proctor is in the hunt, but I really think the top BBOTY candidates are coming from Jerry Nelsons herd. Rocketman or whatever his ridiculous new name is, is the one that comes to mind first. I have only seen the last few events, but I cant think of a bull that has bucked harder.
On a side note, did anyone see the price of Big Bucks semen? $7500 per straw, only available in 10 straw packages! And people are buying it! Plus Jerry says there may be another change in ownership of Big Bucks, for as Jerry put it, "bigger bucks". I think we are about to see the most expensive bucking bull ever, if the deal goes through. $2.5 Million+ maybe???

Dr Proctor has been easily the best bull Ive seen this year, he was a 46.25 and a 47 back to back this weekend and earned every point of those markings. I know there hasnt been a bull this year post numbers like that on back to back trips he was out of this world in Reading PA and hes never been ridden. He should win the award easily in my opinion.

I agree, he was easily the best bull in Reading, no question. I have now officially decided to put him in the same conversation as bulls like Pandora's Box, Big Bucks and Rocketm - er, Scene of the Crash (ehhh), and I think he is in the running this year. The TV broadcast did not say he was a 47 though - they said he was a 46.75 (even though he really was a 47), and call me crazy (and don't get me wrong), but even though 46.75 is a high bull score, in my mind there's a fine line between that and 47, which is out of this world. And look at Big Bucks last year - look how many scores over 47 he had gotten last year, including that 47.5 in Kansas City against Justin McBride. This year's race is gonna be interesting to watch.
I've noticed we've not had a 48 from a bull on the BFTS in quite some time - I think the last time was Reindeer in Nampa in '04, if I am not mistaken. I don't wanna downplay these bulls but it's just something I've noticed.
But yeah, back on topic, Dr. Proctor's name is in the running IMO.

I got this article off of Michaelgaffney.com:
Rodeo — Local bull still bucking off cowboys YAKIMA HERALD-REPUBLIC
Doctor Proctor still has the rudest bedside manner around.
The Selah-based Red Brangus bull was the top-rated bucker at a Professional Bull Riders (PBR) event Friday and Saturday in Reading, Pa. While going unridden in two go-rounds — and allowing neither bullrider to stay aboard longer than 2.8 seconds — Doctor Proctor was the highest-marked bull among the 91 bulls at the event.
Doctor Proctor averaged a 23.313 score from each judge for his two rides. Only two of the other 90 bulls averaged 23 or better, and each of those was for a single ride.
According to ProBullStats.com, the 29-trip unridden string owned by Doctor Proctor — now ranked 11th on the ProBullStats' list of top 200 bulls for all bull-riding events, both PBR and rodeo — is topped by only one other bull. Bo's Excuse, an Andrews Rodeo Company bull out of Texas with 39 straight buck-offs, has a longer streak. Doctor Proctor, though, has a significantly higher average judge's mark over his career (22.603 to 22.179).
Chris Shivers, after his winning 90.5-point ride in round one, was given the opportunity to ride the unridden Proctor for a $10,000 bonus. And after he was thrown off in 2.8 seconds, he told a television interviewer that he underestimated the bull and that it reminded him of the legendary Bodacious.
"So you've got Chris Shivers equating Doctor Proctor with Bodacious, and Ty Murray said that if he could vote for bull of the year, he would vote for Doctor Proctor," Doctor Proctor co-owner Gary Long said Monday.
Rod Chumley, the Red Knection stock contractor and Doctor Proctor co-owner, took the bull to the Reading event and was told by numerous bullriders there that they would casting their bull-of-the-year votes for Doctor Proctor. The bull won't buck again until the tour finals Oct. 27-Nov. 5 in Las Vegas.
