Maybe it was because of the long break. Maybe it was from being tired of watching reruns. Maybe it was because of being there before and trying to remember where I parked the rental car at the American Center. Maybe it was because of the stock pile of PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) beer that got consumed this weekend. Maybe it was because of so many riders making the come back. But in anycase, it looked to me that Dallas was one of the years best events. Next year count me in for Dallas. I'll even bring my championship armadillo racing shirt for Billy Bob's at Stockyard Station in Ft Worth for the following night. Charlie

Come on Kelly you know that you loved the 3,000+ kids running around the hotel ! Dallas was definitely a good time and great show. Bull power was amazing and the riders a pretty determined group. It was also fun to see and talk to a lot of the legends that attended. The American Airlines arena was I think one of the nicest on tour.

Yes, I'm surprised all the kids got away unscathed. Anyway, the bulls were amazing, I just wish SOMEONE rode in the short go. The event was great and as Terri mentioned it was awesome meeting/hanging out with some legends in the sport (i.e. the guys that rode were not the only guys there). One of my personal favorites, Gary Richards was there. Jim Sharp as well...

During the TV broadcast of Dallas, I did see Gary hanging out behind the chutes. Man, I really miss that guy! He's one of my personal favs, too. Always a smile on his face, no matter if he covered his bull or not.
Did you get a chance to talk to him and see what he's up to these days?

Last I talked to Gary he was working at Cavenders in Houston. He has a nephew that's been going to some events this year, but I can't remember his name right now.

Thanks for the update on Gary, tired. Like I said above, I really miss seeing his smiling face on the BFTS. I never got to meet Gary, although I always wanted to. He seems like the genuine deal - what you see is what you get. I hope he enjoys his 'retirement' and if you happen to find out his nephew's name, let us know so we can watch for him!

As Kelly said we talked to Gary a bit in Dallas and although we did not talk specifically about what he has all been up to I know that he brought a young bullfighter and two riders with him so he is passing along the knowledge to the next generation for sure.
