Although I think we all would have liked to see more rides (especially those coming back from injury etc) and I agree that a person that comes in 4th should get at least some air time on the flip side I would ask what they showed that you would cut? There is only a certain amount of time available (no we can not cut commercials they pay the bills and are contracted) therefore to show more they would have to cut something they did show us out.
As far as the crew is concerned I have to wonder if part of it is due to the fact that this was a late added event. Many of the regulars may have already made other commitments by the time the event was scheduled. Don't know if this is the case or not but it is one possible explanation.
Two things do seem too be going very well for the broadcasts. One lets not forget that they use to only allow 1 hour for the event (imagine seeing only 1/2 the rides we did get to see). Two their viewership in every target demographic is up and that is how they measure their success.

Well, I'm glad Terri is making some sense here. I swear with some people, if you give an inch, they try to take a foot. Instead of being happy for what we do get, they must moan and groan for more. I wish sometimes the PBR would cut the events back to an hour or 1/2 hour. Then what would Todd do? We wouldn't be able to contain his bitterness and hatred for the PBR. Be thankful for what you get... It's quite simple actually. Thanks Terri for a good observation.

I have always LOVED the coverage of the PBR on OLN and very glad that they are so faithful to cover every event. I was just disappointed to not see more (if not every ride) rides. Perhaps they are just trying a new format prior to the finals. I have my fingers crossed that it will be awesome like it was before this next PBR event. I would DIE if someone didn't cover the PBR. I think OLN would hate to lose the PBR just as the PBR would hate to lose the coverage on OLN. I just hope they change the format back like it was prior to the next event. I will be waiting patiently for the return of the PBR to OLN! ya-hoo!

Okay, I would agree with you Cody that I do appreciate that we get to see the PBR events in a timely manner! However, there is nothing wrong with being a little dissappointed with the coverage. I thought the PBR coverage was making a turn for the better... I mean it has been a while since they have cut out short-go rides and here we are again. Not to mention there were TWO guys this week in the short go that we didn't see EITHER ride for theirs (Snyder and Allan). Now that is just silly.
Like Terri said, we should have seen more injured riders that were returning. I am sorry but if you are going to make a big deal about them returning in the pre-event release then you should show it. I actually care more about how Cory Melton, Cory Rasch and Craig Sasse are doing after injuries than I care to see the regular guys buck off (Alves, Trosclair, Shivers, Mcbride, Marchi, etc...)
Now to Terri's question... I would have cut out Edgar's greatest rides, the recaps from other events (i.e. the CT event), following bucked off riders for too long, JW's 1st ride in the long go (come on the bull stopped and stood there)- show the reride like they did with Washburn.
Again, I'd rather see SOMETHING than NOTHING but that doesn't mean that we can't be dissapointed.
On another positive note, I thought I'd NEVER say this but I am thankful to have Brett Haber after seeing those CT commentators. He has gotten to be quite good, he even catches things that Gaffney misses on a ride and Gaffney confirms them during the replay. I do miss Justin but we don't know that he is gone for sure yet so let's not jump to conclusions... if he isn't at the CT finals or PBR finals then I will believe he is gone.

Kelly, the way you put it is much more respectful and easier to read. I can actually understand what you are saying. I respect your opinions 100%. I guess I just don't really get into the broadcast that much. I just honestly don't focus on all the X's and O's that goes into making the telecast. I just sit back, get me a glass or two of sweet tea, and enjoy the bull riding. I'm glad I don't care as much about the broadcast as some of you do, or I would go insane trying to pick apart the broadcast. I think I've said my piece enough in this topic. Thank you Kelly for expressing your opinions in a respectful and mature manner.

Well, I gotta get my 2 cents worth in here! ;D I personally think that almost every broadcast could do with some improvement, but maybe that's just me - I'm a perfectionist. But I've also come to realize that I should just be thankful that someone is interested enough in the sport to air the events. I am such a bullriding junkie (and have been for over 10 years) that if suddenly there were no more events aired, I think I would be pretty miserable to live with! So I'm willing to deal with little inadequacies just so I can continue seeing the events on TV. I've noticed that with almost every event, here of late, they add new graphics or do something different - it seems that they are playing around with a bunch of different stuff to maybe see what works and what doesn't. IDK... Maybe I'm giving them more credit than they deserve. (Probably am...) After last year's Finals "flap", I've given up on criticizing the broadcasts, as I find it to be unproductive as well as personally aggravating, since numerous emails to the PBR from me in the past have all met with dismal responses from them (or as is more typical, no response at all.) I personally didn't see anything exceptionally different from this past weekend's broadcast than from before. I agree about how they seem to show the "popular" riders rides more than other riders, and it IS disappointing. Given the fact that Luke FINALLY DID cover not just ONE but TWO bulls and they don't show either ride. ESPECIALLY after, week after week for the last 6 months, all we've been hearing is how darn lousy Luke's been riding. You'd think they would want to show him finally pulling outa his slump. (BTW, Luke - attaboy!) Bottom line is that no matter what they do - or don't do - with the broadcasts, there's no pleasing all of the people all of the time. SOMEthing is ALWAYS going to be lacking. Let's just be hopeful that what they are working toward in the end is a broadcast that WILL appeal to all of us. As far as what Todd's comments are, I normally don't respond to anything he writes because I can never seem to quite grasp what he's trying to say. It always seems like he's on a rant and just rambles around, never really making any kind of real point other than venomous outbursts directed at the PBR, the riders or someone here on this board. I honestly don't see how anybody can make heads or tails of it. Most of the time, I think he just needs to take a chill pill and then READ what he wrote and maybe do some editing before he posts it. Maybe this would keep alot of "misunderstandings" from occuring in the first place. Anyhow - I'll get down from the soap box now....

I couldnt have put it any better. It is good that you see the stuff that goes on and i can understand you. You make this a happy place and i like here better when your here.
We need to just realize some people need to grow up and realize that they don't know it all. As soon as they do will be a happier community. I hope that those who havn't grown up will learn how to real quick.
I really like this place but since the last event i think i need to take a break but i will be back in a little while and hope all of you have a good clean fun time.
God Bless All

Hmm.... I couldn't have said it better myself. It seems like I have been saying that for awhile though.
But anyway, back on topic.
It seems as though I really am the only one who don't really care about the coverage. I respect that, and I will admit when I'm in the minority.
But I will still go on about my business and just take what I get when it comes to the PBR.
1 ride is better than 0. And 2 hours is sure better than 1 1/2 hours.
