Anyone know the origin of the old saying "That's BS !!" ? So just what about Bull Dung could be construed to mean phoney and untruthfull? I Mean-what did bulls do to deserve this bad rap? Other slightly related and deroggitory bull terms that I can think of right now: 1) BS ! 2) You are full of bull! 3) That's a load of Bull...(you pick it ) 4) He is such a big Bull dunger (you know what I mean) 5) Oh Bull Pucky! Any more? Anyone know how all of this BS got started? Thanks, Rich

Well there are several theories on this actually..I know a guy that did a paper on it for a philosophy class. The three leading involve George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and Wood panels, WWII and the adaptation of a French word or an ancient roman emperor. The WWII origins seem most likely. Surprisingly very few have to do with actual bull dung. If you really want to know there is a great philosophy book on the subject by Harry Frankfurt on "Bulls**t" It is worth the read!
