Since I don't personally know Jody Newberry, I can't say I know for sure that he didn't hook the loop intentionally, but I feel in my heart that Jody isn't built that way. From everything I've read, seen, etc, Jody seems like an upstanding, honest guy who would never even contemplate such a thing, much less actually do it. I guess there will always be people like tennesseerustler who like to keep the monkeys stirred up - personally, I think they get some kinda thrill out of it.
In any case, I think it's time to be done with this subject. I'm sure the Newberry's are tired of it, and most likely all here on THIS board are tired of it. I KNOW I am. C'mon - it's a new year and a new start. Let's get on with life, and let whatever is in the past BE in the past.
Good Luck to Jody in 2006 - sure hope this is YOUR year for the championship!

I will drop it because i do not like confrontation and therefore i will stop. WE all have our opinions and beliefs. What is right or wrong we are entitled to our opinions i guess since he is a nice guy and a believer in god and a minister it is impossible for him to do wrong. God bless him and i wish him the best of luck. we all make mistakes and should be forgivin for their sins. I forgive you Jody.
Just put an end to the bs and everyone believe what you want. Lets put this thread to rest that all i have on this anymore.

i guess since he is a nice guy and a believer in god and a minister it is impossible for him to do wrong. Yes, there are a heck of a lot of people out there who use Christianity as a license to do whatever they please, and then profess to be men of God who do no wrong. However, being the agnostic that I am, I could care less if Jody is a Christian minister, a druid leader or a Muslim cleric. What convinces me of his innocence is not the fact that he's a Christian. What convinces me is how he comes off as a person. Like I said in the earlier post: I don't personally know Jody but he SEEMS to be incapable of doing something like catching loops just to secure a world championship. I don't think he's built that way. However, you certainly ARE entitled to your opinion. If you feel Jody cheated, then you feel Jody cheated. Bottom line is this: ONLY Jody knows whether he did or whether he didn't and in the long run, that's all that matters.

So, tennessee rustler, how does webster define "accident"? I am not saying that you aren't entitled to your own opinion. However, referring to Jody as intentionally cheating is not right. He did not intentionally cheat. Why would he do that if he knew they were watching him. Jody never said that he didn't catch his loop. It was obvious that he did. However, he did so after the bull took two solid jumps in the chute. Watch the replay and you will see. Jody is fine with the call. It is neither here nor there. In fact, Jody is fine with everything. He doesn't get easily offended or let things bother him. I, however, will not let someone run my husband's good name in the groud without making statements myself. Jody is a good Christian. However, that does not make him perfect. In fact, he is far from it. In his trophy case, he has a plaque that reads, "Next time you think you're perfect, try walking on water." This is only to remind him that no matter how many trophies he may have, none of them matter. He is a very humbled man. At the same time, Jody is a good person with good motives. He is also a good bullrider and does not need (and doesn't even want to) catch his knots to ride bulls. The wording of the rule is wrong. It shouldn't be left up to a judge to decide whether or not someone did something intentionally or not. Who's to say? Can the judges read minds? No, they cannot. Furthermore, Jody is doing everything in his power to keep from making the same mistake. (Check out my previous posts.) I am not offended by your remarks, nor do I have a problem with opinionated posts being made. This is a public message board, and if I find it too degrading, I will simply not return. However, I have found throughout this ordeal that Jody has so many faithful fans and we are very honored by that. If you are not a fan or simply cannot accept that he caught his knot, whether intentionally or not, like so many of the riders do, then I am sorry. I am only acting as a concerned wife would. I will not stand for anyone publicly slandering my husband without letting them know about it or correcting their misassumptions. (That goes for the TV commentators, too.) I also wanted to take the opportunity to let you know that Josh Peter (author of Fried Twinkies, Buckle Bunnies, and Bullriders) has a "blog" (message board) on his website that has some interesting articles and comments. You can check it out at www.friedtwinkies.comGod bless, Amanda Newberry

LOL this is what happens when people open their big mouths. Yall know Jody wouldn't cheat...if it's comin from his own wife I'm gonna believe it. I believed it anyways. So everyone just calm down and admit it. There's always somethin about a rider that people have to point out. HELLO, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO KEITH .ARE YALL GONNA CALL HIM A CHEATER, TOO??( i used him cause he's the only one i saw but there was like 4 other ones too lol) When things happen you just gotta accept and get on with your life. As my uncle said, "When life gives you lemon, make lemonade." People make mistakes...it's just part of bein normal. If anyone has never made amistake you need to be put the guiness book of world records cause that is amazing. I'm done for the night. God bless yall.

I have no intention of leaving the board. I actually enjoy reading everyone's posts and I enjoy corresponding with all of you. Cody and Holly have done wonderful things for the fans by creating and moderating such a great board. They have taken nothing and turned it into a great place to meet others and talk about the sport we have all grown to love. I do not get easily offended and I can take other's opinions with a grain of salt. So, don't worry about me! See ya around here real soon!
God bless, Amanda

Dear Amanda,
Your Husband is not a good rider he is a great rider and he has proven it. He won the finals and he was also rookie of the year in the same year. I will NOT doubt his ability OR integrity nor did I. You though, had come on here and said that it was an accident and that he would never cheat. With that said i believe when he had the oppurtunity to say what had happened he chose to point out that the announcers had called him a cheater. Myself, personally i would not have pointed out what the announcers said i would have pointed out what happened that "the bull bucked twice in the shoot i got my spur caught and cody saw it. I did not know that it was looped and therefore i got dq'd. I have never cheated as the announcers wanted you to believe. I apologize to all my fans for what happen i am not a cheater and accidents happen but i can do nothing about it accept come back and win the next 2 rounds." I would have been more forgivin but it has looked like he does not want the truth to be known that is where my dissapointment comes from. I was pulling hard for him to win he deserves it he is a great rider but he should have done the right thing and claimed his innocence. Rather he felt he needed to or not, many people would find that admirable and choose to pull for him all they have now is the fact he got dq'd.
I WANT TO DROP THIS. I HAVE TO SAY SORRY TO EVERYONE FOR HAVING MY BELIEFS. I JUST DONT LIKE HOW IT WENT DOWN I ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS MAY FEEL THE SAME BUT I DONT KNOW.
