Felony Charges Filed in Rodeo Bull Shooting October 29th, 2006 @ 1:04pm SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- As rodeo bulls go, Charley's Nephew seemed destined to be a great competitor.
But now it's more likely he'll be the lunch special at the local hamburger joint.
The bull was shot seven times in September, leaving him unable to compete in professional rodeo events. His owner, professional bull rider Tony Mendes says a feud with a neighbor prompted the shooting.
Now Uintah County prosecutors have charged Mendes' 24-year-old neighbor Devin Murray with second-degree felony criminal mischief in connection with the shooting. A court appearance is set for Nov. 13.
Prosecutor JoAnn Stringham says the bull's value and the extent of the damage warranted the felony charges. The bull may be worth up to 50-thousand dollars.
Mendes hopes Charley can be salvaged for breeding, but says it's more likely he's bound for the slaughter house.

I sure hope so too. Some States its 3 times the animals value. And how would you value the potential of an Bull. It's hard sometimes to believe how hateful a person can be.

No matter the reasoning behind the dispute, it never allows for taking it out on an innocent animal. What a man this Devin Murray must be. I hope they nail this guy's @$$ to the wall!
