Just wanted to post this here for everyone that hasnt seen this yet. is anyone here going to submit a name to versus?
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. & STAMFORD, Conn. (January 25, 2007) - VERSUS, the network that celebrates real competition in all its forms and the national cable television home of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), today announced the network's sponsorship of one of the rankest bulls on the PBR circuit today, VERSUS the bull, and is enlisting the help of PBR fans to "Brand the Bull" with a new name to reflect the tough demeanor and rank status of this world-class bull. VERSUS the bull will make its 2007 debut at the Dale Jr. Clash in Charlotte, NC January 26-28 and will appear throughout the year as part of the PBR Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) presented by Wrangler.
VERSUS the bull is a well-known bull among the PBR cowboys and he has recently undergone a name change from Stray Kitty. This outstanding athlete became the first two-year old bull to win the ABBI World Finals Futurity in 2004. He continued dominating the ABBI Classic competition in 2005 by claiming the World Bucking Bull Classic Champion crown.
This great animal athlete made his debut appearance at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in 2005 by turfing Cody Whitney (Asher, Okla.), and his style and athleticism have continued to improve as he's reached maturity. In 2006 he made another appearance at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals-bucking the number four ranked rider, Sean Willingham (Summerville, Ga.) to the dirt.
The only time this bull has been beaten, out of seven attempts, was in Reno, Nev. at a BFTS event in 2006. With an average buck-off time of 4.03 seconds and a bull rating of 22.3 this athlete is sure to continue his winning ways on the Built Ford Tough Series and could potentially be named bull of the year.
"The PBR is one of the toughest sports and is one of the premier properties on VERSUS and we wanted to support the efforts of one of the rankest bulls and toughest competitors on the PBR circuit," said Bill Bergofin, Senior Vice President of Marketing for VERSUS. "The bulls are as much the athletes as the riders. We want a name that embodies the raw, pure competitiveness that is at the core of the VERSUS brand, and there is no better way to re-name the bull than by enlisting the help of loyal PBR fans and viewers."
Fans will be given the opportunity to help re-name this bull when VERSUS kicks off a fan contest beginning February 10. For six weeks, viewers can visit VERSUS.com to submit their naming suggestions for the bull. Each week prior to the weekend PBR broadcasts, the best submitted names as judged by a VERSUS panel of "competitive geneticists" will be posted on the web for fans to vote on. The newly named bull will be announced at the Ty Murray Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. on April 1.
