I've seen this on a couple of other thread here. I tend to agree with everyone else here. I think the ABBI should put up a rule like the AQHA, you can change the horses name as long as it hasnt been shown. I think a bulls name cannot be changed unless we have never ever seen it on the PBR. I think it gets confusing for the fans and for the people keeping the stats on these bulls. Im sure the old time fans like me will still reconize the bulls and call them by their old names, but the new fans will think its a new bull.... Just because they change owners, or someone buys into the bull, or they are at a special venue, or they have a new spouncer is no reason to rename a bull.

I totally agree, i took me about a week from when the bull names were changed to figure out (after looking at the pbr website) that Rocketman was Scene of the Crash, and Leroy was The Boogerman.

I agree. Like George's pride used to be Juicy Fruit. I thought they also changed Chiefs name at Hawaii to Chiefburger with an Attitude. I could be wrong though.

I agree to a certain extent. I do think you should be allowed to change the name slightly... that way sponsors will get involved and help out these contractors financially. What I mean is changing Chief to "Cheeseburger in Paradise's Chief" or "Chief in paradise", etc. For Stray Kitty.... something like "Versus's Stray Kitty". Kinda like Bowtech's bulls... i.e. "Bowtech's Toy Tiger" and "Bowtech's Lover boy"
If sponsors are paying money, they want their name out there and what better way then to have it be part of the bull's name?
However, the whole Scene of the Crash from Rocketman and Boogerman from Leroy is frustrating, where the names are totally different and IMO pointless... what benefit did they have from changing Leroy to Boogerman??? Rocketman I can kinda understand because of how many Rocketmans were on tour around that time.
On that note, I would maybe go further and say, that they shouldn't be allowed to name bulls the same name as an active bull on tour. I hate when there are numerous bulls with the same name. Half the times the announcers even feel the need to say "this isn't the same red alert as ________" For goodness sake, how many possible names are out there??? Why do they need to do it? Be original!!!

I don't think they should be able to change a bull's name unless there's a sponship deal either. Some of those bulls that you all stated I didn't even know they were one and the same. I just thought they were a new bull and the old one went off and dissappeared somewhere.. I'll also agree with cowgirl4life's statement that I don't think they should be able to name a bull the same thing as a bull that is already currently acttive on the tour.
It hasn't been done very often, but I also think that bull riding should be like horse racing. Horse racing does not let owners reuse names of famous race horses. The only bull I can think of off the top of my head that has this issue is the new Sports Machine. I can't say how many people I heard that thought that this Sports Machine was the same one from like five years ealier, it just gets confusing. I knew it wasn't the same Sports Machine, since the two look completely different, but other viewers might not.

As a fan I hate see established bulls have a name change. But, if I were a bull owner/contractor, I'd take the money and change the name. I.E., I understand the decisions.

They will never make it a mandatory thing to only have one bull named "such and such". As far as changing name's it may seem pointless but to the people that bought the bull's it probably dosent, it's there bull they can name them Elmer's Glue if they want to. Most of your riders don't get confused by several bulls being called by the same name because most of the time there going to have a different fire brand number and have a different owner. I know when I was riding bull's I got on more Tazmanian Devil's then I can ever remember and never got confused by them being another bull.

It is confusing but I agree they want the sponsorship and that is how they buy food food for their animals and themselves. This is how they make their living but it is confusing.
I wish someone would name a bull Root Canal! ha!
