Part of the fun of going to a live event is seeing your "heroes" in person and getting their autographs or your picture taken with your favorite rider. That is important to some fans. When I first started going to the Finals I would head for the fan appreciation event early and stand in line for a couple hours, just so I could be one of the first through the door. That's why the PBR expects the guys to sign autographs after an event - they realize the importance from a p.r. standpoint. The idea of paying to get an autograph is ludicrous, signing goes along with being a celebrity. I draw the line, though, at asking the guys to sign when they are not at a signing; i.e., when you see them on the street, walking through the gift expo (at the Finals), eating their meals, etc., etc. I believe they deserve their down time and we should respect that. We usually greet them when we see them, but don't stop them and ask for an autograph. Just our philosophy.

Milo that was my point. I have no problem asking for an autograph at an event. I am not an autograph seeker so forgive me and my dislike for them. They can sign if they want but if they don't big deal. My whole premise about the charging is because of the fact that if they are going to run away "Justin Mcbride" and not sign and they are the face of the sport then they should have to stick around. I was not meaning individually charge for an autograph, but i do mean have a sponsor pay them to show up at a special place in which their is an admission for pictures and for autographs. You have to make it worth their while they have better things to do then sit around and sign autographs. They have families in which the would like to leave and go be with them.
About the kids thing i thought about that and yes that is true. It would be hard to allow a kid to just walk up and ask for an autograph. This is just another reason why their needs to be a better place than an event in which the drunks are annoying and the kids are victim. If they had a tent in which the kids could meet the riders that would be much better and more personable.
If I offended anybody so be it. I am not an autograph person and i do stick by my opinions and will continue to post them. This was brought up in the thread so i replied it should not be removed we all come here to speak our mind on certain subject. The whole i am wrong thing i accept that and it may be ludacris as one said but it is a fact the riders are underpaid and need to be compensated for anything they do other than riding.

I forgot to comment on something that was mentioned above: I was disappointed w/ the autographs/riders after the event. My daughter wanted to get autographs in her "mickey autograph book" (w/ her disney autographs in it, very special) and they all come out w/ their little black sharpies and SCRIBBLE on the pages, you can't even see who wrote it, are they doctors? I can write better than that and I write on a lot of charts a day! I do say "I am sorry" did not read that. Honestly, be happy you got one and dont criticize you wonder why they dont want to sign. It is because when they do people complain. They can't win.

I am not upset at all about the autograph scribbles, somewhere this all got out of line. My daughter was ELATED to have the autographs, I just can't decipher the signings.
I was told by Joe Merrick that part of the PBR guidelines state they are to be FRIENDLY to anyone that speaks to them and sign autographs when asked. Maybe Amanda can shed some light on this.
If they don't want to sign that is fine, my daughter was just dying to see Justin McBride "my favorite cowboy". She had even drawn a pic for him prior to the event of him riding a bull, she is only 6, she wanted to give it to him.
I could care less if I get an autograph or not, was just disappoined as anyone would be for their childs excitement crushed.
No big deal, really and to sell on ebay, where did that come from? Unless someone wants Mickey Mouse or Poohs autographs too. I could care less to have an autograph, it was for her, not for me.
sorry this all got out of line, however I don't know how it went all bad.

I do understand where you are coming from. Unfortunately, most proffesionals who do sign auto are unreadable. I got home from a giants game and had a ball sighned and like yourself i could not read it either. So i do understand. I guess my whole thing was that I do not feel it is their responsibility, if they want to great but if not so be it. The fact that Justin left was enough to make me say what i said about the let them be and get a tent where they have to. To be honest Justin was the first one i had ever heard of running or leaving without signing. About your Pooh Book buy a program and spare the real valubles of winnie the pooh and friends. She may like Justin but Winnie the Pooh is animation. ooh always wins out.
Like i said i am sorry for jumping to conclusions. I was in the wrong. Hey, though about the ebay thing it does happen and thats why i said what i did. I did not believe you would but many do. We all know that. Hell they sell stolen buckles from years gone by.

I promise you could see better on the 2nd row than I could on the front w/ the bars in front.
I just found it bizarre that we were so far down w/ fan club tickets.
I know everyone can't be pleased. Were you w/ the family of the bull breeder?
Last year we were chute side as I was told we would be this year.
No big deal, I know I am not a VIP and can't have the best but when you are told you will have gr8 seats (on the phone) and "chute side" you are not thinking the south end.
Thanks so much for everyones imput.
I am curious to see if Amanda reads this and comments if there really is an obligation by the riders to be friendly and sign when asked.
Last year we stayed in the hotel room next to Adriano and he was very gracious even w/ the chaos of getting his wife & boys in the room took his pic w/ me and gave me an autograph.
The whole thread was on tickets for fan club and I just didn't like being lied to on the phone about the tickets I purchased the day they went on sale.
I can't remember what you looked like behind us but I'm sure my daughter was in your way a lot of the time. That was her last appearance @ a pbr event until she is older, she couldn't sit still very long, she did love Flint though.

I dont know about the friendly part, but they DO have to show up for autographs, otherwise they face fines.
