Well....im not sure if we ever really talked about this...but lets see what happens ....How do you all feel of some of the "BAD ATTITUDES " in the arena??? I am NOT for it at all !!! There is a time and a place for it, and the arena is NOT one of them !!!

I don't mind it so much.... Everybody reacts differently in situations. Some people are more emotional than others. It happens in all aspects in life. I don't have to like it but I accept that part of living. Besides it keeps things interesting.
I do agree that there are more appropriate places for it but these guys are caught up in the moment and each one reacts different. Some laugh it off, some get mad and some show no emotion either way. I guess I like some of the more "emotional" guys. They are the ones that get you excited when they ride, they have high highs and low lows.
The biggest point to be made is, you can't judge these guys by how they react when they get bucked off. I know some people have said bad things about Brendon based upon his behavior on the Beyond the Bull episodes but I have met him in person (and had convos. with him and Anna) and he is one of the nicest guys on tour.

The way i see it, you are there as a showmen, (or show women) and you are there for the people. You have no need to throw a bad attitude in the arena. I mean it is different if it is behind the chutes where not all eyes are on you. I got on a great bull earlier today, and i lost my feet on him. I could of gone and pitched my mask, or bull rope, or even hit the fence, or maybe i should of went up and clobbered Kevin Rich (our stock contractor/announcer/judge)but what good is it gonna do?
I just want to make a point cowgirl4life30, They (the riders of the PBR) are supposed to be nice to the fans.
What happens in somebody falls off, and a little kid is leaning over the fence and one of the "in the moment" things happen and a stray fists catches a 6 year old in the side of the head, how would that look? But then i guess that it wouldnt matter, because it is "in the heat of the moment"

That is ridiculous!! Getting mad is not being mean to the fans.... I don't think anyone on this board could think of one time that a rider laid a hand on a fan (in a aggressive way) after bucking off... Very few lay hands on anyone (sure Edgard and Adriano) but most of the time you see guys punch things, swear, etc... Don't take things to extremes/non-existent to try to prove a point....
I will also go further and say that I have sat 3rd, 4th, 5th row right in front of the chutes and have never really heard any of the riders swear like they showed on Beyond the Bull... and many times Brendon was there and bucked off... a microphone does wonders to protray them in a bad light. If you are so against the "bad attitudes" then you must hate how the bull fighters got caught saying "here F*cker" over and over again on TV... whatever, that is dumb.... nobody is perfect and everyone has flaws and you shouldn't fault them for that. And what is the difference if they do in the arena floor or in the hallway to the locker room while being followed and shown on TV? Either way fans see them behaving that way.
So Cowboyup1991.......OBVIOUSLY, I don't think violence toward someone else is acceptable but throwing a bull rope/swearing/punching a fence are two totally different things!!!!!!!!!
Oh and BC.... I know you are a very emotional guy!! I remember those "I feel like a woman convos!! #mfr_lol#

Now i think that you mis understood. i never said on purpose. I have seen in person guys chunk fists at the fence. I was saying, what if someone just happened to lean over the fence when one of em where throwing there little temper tantrums. And i never said i hate anybody. Sure there are a few that i dont really care for, but not hate. I dont care how you handle yourself anywhere, if your gonna try your hand at riding bulls, take a buck off like a man. And if you cant do that, then sit on the fence, cause this aint no place for childrens behaviour.

I have been to rodeos where if these guys showed half of the temper that they do, theyd be drug out to the parkin lot. Alot of guys have the same views on this that i do.

I'm not sure the bad attitude is necessary, but I'm also not sure how I would react in the same situation. So I really can't judge these guys for how they react to buck-offs.
I'm a very competitive guy, and I might do some of the same on occasions after bucking off. I sure know I used to get fired up in basketball games, and there is a good chance I would probably sound off a little after a buck-off as well.
All athletes are role models, but all athletes are also human. I think that sentence pretty much sums it up for me.

If you take a RANK bull to 7.9 then more often than not there will be some anger dwelling inside you and how you deal with it is up to you...but with the OLN cameras followin you all the way back to the locker room as they tend to do then its hard to you to find a place to yourself and "let out your anger" in whatever way you choose to do but i do not think that in the arena punching stuff is the way to handle it...just grit your teeth and take care of it somewhere else

i dont think u can get mad at the riders for gettng mad in the arena. Imagine, u get bucked off at 7.9 or even at like 1 second or whenever, u get mad cuz u know u coudlve ridden it, and there goes your chances of making some money that weekend. I cant blame them for getting mad. I get mad all the time when i mess up on teh Court for volleyball. We all get mad. cant blame anyone. but....if they need to cuss, they should TRY to make it less obvious of what they are saying. lol -KG-

Over the past two years I have only hit 15 rodeos in competition. I covered 10 bulls and have the videos of all of em. Ya know how many scores i got? 2. ya know how many the clock says i covered? 8. there is somethin i should of been mad about. But ya know what you can do? go and fix what made you fall off. And ya know what happened? this season so far i have covered 3 of 5. that is what you do, you run in all the practice bulls you can get on and fix what needs fixen

If you legitimately covered that many and only got 2 scores, let me reccomend finding some more professionaly run events to compete in.

I did, but that is what you get when you ride in an association where other competitors parents are the judges.

It sure is interesting all the differant views on this. Now Im going to make a comment from a differant perspective, I fought bulls for 23 years, from PBR Challenger, PRCA to High school and Little Britches. I am very passionate about cowboy protection, not freestyling....I sucked at that...anyway......I always tried to do my best to keep the rider safe. Alot of times I was the only bullfighter, and there were times were there was 2 of us. And no matter what....there were times were I could NOT be in just the right place, or there were times were I did make a mistake or wrong move, and then there were times that no matter what you did...it just didnt work out, and someone got hooked, stepped on, run over...etc. Even if I took a hookin for or with the cowboy, it still makes you mad...cuz there must have been something else I couldve done....maybe...maybe not !!! You cannot believe how many times I was mad or just plain "PISSED OFF"...because of that. However....not once did I throw a temper tantrum in the arena, I will confess I have swore on several occasions...but it was pretty much under my breath. I have worked with plenty of other bullfighters...both PRO and AMAUTURE....and I dont recall any of them having a fit in the arena either. Like cowboy1991 stated, you learn from your mistakes, you let that one go and wait for the next....dont dwell on it. And granted I didnt have TV cameras following me around all over, but I and others still didnt throw fits outside the arena either. Again...this is from a bullfighters view, and a view from that when I make a mistake....it could mean "LIFE or DEATH" of the people I was supposed to be protecting...not just a paycheck. I cannot stress enough on how these people are in the public eye and idols to alot of people. Someone stated that rodeo/bullriding was one of the last sports that dont have the " I LOST" hostility, I would still like to see that professionalism in the sport......Thats just my 2 cents worth...just remember, things could always be worse....

Most riders that get angry after their ride are showing frustration in themselves and their performance. I can not think of any rider that gets upset every ride out but they tend to get upset after one they think they should have ridden or almost did ride. There are some riders that are just more emotional then others, no matter if they have had an amazing ride or a disappointing ride. You do not see riders screaming at the judges and the other riders or complaining that someone else had done something wrong, which is what occurs in other sports. It is pure disappointment and frustration in the fact that they did not perform up to their own expectations. Let’s face it, that one bull can mean the difference between going home with a check and going home empty handed with expenses still to be paid. In many cases where frustration is shown it meant the difference between being able to stay on tour and all the benefits it provides or going back to the CT, ET and DT events. These guys are riding to provide for their families and not riding up to their full potential means an added burden to their family that has sacrificed so much.
Secondly, at most other rodeo and bull riding events a guy can leave the arena, then go back behind the chutes, and express his frustration. For many of them this is there way of “getting over it” and get rid of it before there next ride which is sometimes only moments away. They get upset, get mad then it is over and they can focus. Now however, there are cameras following them everywhere. A perfect example of this was Sevi in Reno. He was nothing but professional in the arena and waited until he got back to the locker room to express his frustration. The problem was that unknown to him a camera had followed him back into the locker room to catch every moment. Half of it was filmed through a screen. When he realized he was being filmed he controlled himself. As far as the fans go, he was not still upset, angry or rude to his fans at the end of the event. In fact, he was talking, smiling, joking and taking pictures with them.
Finally, yes many kids look up to riders but no human that a child idolizes is perfect. There is always a need for some parenting. I would rather any child I know idolize the bull riders then 90% of the athletes in other sports. With the exception of about 4 riders, I would be happy to have a child that carried himself as well in public and treated others as well as the riders on tour do their fans.
