I think this is bull-sh*t. Fans aren't supposed to feel like the last couple of seasons outcomes haven't been somewhat rigged, and now they decide to do this?!? IMO, I think picking bulls for special riders has been going on for a while now. I guess we should at least give the PBR a pat on the back for making it public now, instead of them continuing to do it in secret...

I agree, neither I nor the rest of my family was happy about this when I read about it. Seems a little wrong to give certain riders an unfair advantage buy letting them pick whatever bull they want. They going to be able to pick they're score next too?
As BucknSpin already stated though, I think "random" draws haven't been quite so random lately (a la Justin McBride vs. Camo again). But yeah......just another in the growling line of bad ideas put forth from the higher ups.

I guess I can see the "put up or shut up" theory they described, but this quote buggs me:
"As both Ty Murray and Cody Lambert explained, this will provide an opportunity for fans to get to know more about the riders."
How do we the fans get to know more about the riders? The same bulls will be picked regardless of their ability, again more of a popularity contest. You'll start getting under-the-table deals with contractors and riders. I don't like this idea... IMO

Wow... what is the PBR coming to?!?!? I don't see how this will help the fans to get to know the riders better... and besides that, I think it's a bad idea... I mean, I'm no expert by any means, so it might turn out great, but I don't like the sound of this. I think it makes it rather unfair in a sense... there are riders who conistently score higher because of their riding style for exmple. (Or if it came to politics like people are talking about) It seems like they would consistently get to pick their bulls and the guys who aren't as flashy ect. would consistently miss out on the best bulls. I know that people are talking about the draw not being so "random" especially lately, but I still liked to believe that it was... although that matchup with Justin on Camo was a little too creepy, and I'd really like to know if that was rigged or if it really was a weird coinsidence. With this much money available for riders at these events, I wouldn't be surprised if things got secretive when it comes to this idea. Good people or not, crazy things are done for money.

Man this is sad. I can see spread sheets going up in a make-shift office at a riders home 2 days before the event. This is insane.

If it's done the right way, things should turn out ok. I actually think it's a pretty cool idea, especially since it's only done once in a three-day event. Let's just hope they stick to doing things the ethical way. If we start seeing some shady scores, then we will know there is more than meets the eye. I actually think some of you are overreacting a little, but who am I to judge.

I've been searching around different sites online and the controversy has deepened a little with the fact that the riders will now be able to pick their own bulls in not only the second round, but the short-go, too. From PBR, Inc.Rumor has it that the riders knew about the draft for the second round, but weren't told about the short-go picks and it's that one that they are the most displeased with. I can't verify that, obviously, but if it's true, then that I don't blame them for being upset. As I'm fairly new to bull riding, I don't have a really strong opinion one way or another, but I'm leaning towards not liking the idea at all. It'll be interesting to see how it goes this year.

It is true that the riders had no idea concerning the short go picking. AND I am begging you all to let your voices heard. Remember "founded by Bullriders for BULLRIDERS" ! Don't get me wrong. We are very blessed to be a part of the PBR.. and it offers so much to the riders. I just think it is important that they hear from the masses, that know what they are talking about.

Yeah, picking the second-round bulls wasn't a big deal at all to me, but having the opportunity to pick the short-go bulls is pretty ridiculous. Surely, that idea will be scrapped before the season starts, but I doubt it. The riders should definitely have a say in it at the very least.

The riders getting a "say", that would be a joke.

I don't like this idea one bit. I think this will further hurt the PBR.
