I read on another site that he was shot in the abdomen. I guess while he was in Thibodaux this happened. If anybody has an update it would be appreciated. Here is the story:
February 03. 2006 12:40PM
Local bull rider shot during fight today Liz Hackenburg Staff writer A Chackbay man drove himself to the Thibodaux Police Department after he was shot in the abdomen shortly after 4 a.m. today, police said.
Willis Trosclair, 25, was rushed to the Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition, Detective Laura Guise said this morning.
He underwent emergency surgery this morning after a black man fired a bullet into his stomach, Guise said.
Trosclair managed to tell officers that he was driving his truck in the 1200 block of St. Charles Street near Back Street when two black men approached him.
While Trosclair was speaking to the men, a fight broke out between the three and several other people approached.
During the struggle that followed one of the two unidentified men pulled out a handgun and fired a round, hitting Trosclair in the midsection.
Trosclair, a professional bull rider, competed in the Professional Bull Riders World Finals in Las Vegas in November.
The Chackbay native lives and trains in Chauvin and has competed in professional bull riding arenas for seven years.
Police hope to speak with Trosclair when he regains consciousness, Guise said.
So far, there are no suspects in the shooting.
Anyone with information on the shooting can call the Thibodaux Police Department at 446-5021 or 446-7281.

The shot hit Willis' liver but for the most part missed other vital organs. As of yesterday evening he was still in the ICU but was gaining strength. They were hoping to move him out of the ICU sometime either today or tomorrow if he continued to do well.
He is likely looking at a long stay in the hospital and a lot of recovery. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Willis is doing much better. Last we heard, they let him wake up from the medically induced coma. He is healing well. A lot of his family/friends were there when he woke up. Willis' thoughts: "What are y'all doing here? I'm not gonna die. Go home!"
Willis is one of the toughest guys I know! I'm glad he's doing better and can't wait to see him 100% again!
God bless, Amanda Newberry

Here are some excerpts of an update that was posted on the Fried Twinkies Blog: Willis Trosclair has been moved out of the intensive care unit and into a private hospital room in his hometown of Thibodaux, La., after undergoing emergency surgery for a bullet wound suffered Friday. The bullet hit Trosclair in the upper abdomen, pierced his liver and broke a rib before exiting through his back. He was shot by a .45 caliber pistol, according to Detective Laura Guise. On Tuesday, Trosclair said he planned to resume riding this year. “Oh, yeah,’’ he said. “For sure.’’ For the complete article and more information regarding the incident here is a link to the blog: www.friedtwinkies.com/blog/

Willis Trosclair Shot
On February 3rd PBR bull rider, Willis Trosclair, 25 of Thibodaux, LA, was shot in the stomach and managed to drive himself to the police department. According to Detective Laura Guise he was immediately rushed to the Thibodaux Regional Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery.
Trosclair managed to tell officers that he was driving his truck in the 1200 block of St. Charles Street near Back Street when two black men approached him.
The following report was received Tuesday, February 7th from sports reporter, Josh Peter:
Trosclair out of intensive care;
Police still looking for gunman
Willis Trosclair has been moved out of the intensive care unit and into a private hospital room in his hometown of Thibodaux , La. , after undergoing emergency surgery for a bullet wound suffered Friday.
Trosclair was shot at about 4 a.m., and police said they are following leads but have yet to identify a suspect. Asked Tuesday during a telephone interview how he was doing, Trosclair replied in a weak voice, “I’m going to live.’’
Trosclair, 25, said he was in his truck and had just taken out money from an ATM when two men approached his vehicle. He said a man who approached from the driver’s side had a gun and that Trosclair tried to knock it from the man’s hand before the gun fired.
The bullet hit Trosclair in the upper abdomen, pierced his liver and broke a rib before exiting through his back. He was shot by a .45 caliber pistol, according to Detective Laura Guise.
“The investigation did reveal there was a struggle between him and two suspects, and in the process of the struggle a handgun was pulled and pointed toward Trosclair,’’ Guise said. “At the time, Trosclair kind of swatted at the pistol to knock it out of his hand and in doing so the weapon went off.’’
Trosclair underwent two surgeries before he was moved out of the intensive care unit, according to James Pierce, a friend of Trosclair’s and a longtime bullfighter. Pierce said the doctors told Trosclair’s family that the 25-year-old rider faced a six-month recovery.
Trosclair had competed in six events on the Built Ford Tough Series this season. But he successfully rode only two of 13 bulls and after the Express PBR Classic in Oklahoma City in late January he was cut from the top 45 and relegated to the minor leagues.
On Tuesday, Trosclair said he planned to resume riding this year.
“Oh, yeah,’’ he said. “For sure.’’
