OK. Here's one of my pet peeves about the announcers. They're always saying Mike White has the talent to be a world champion if he can just stay healthy. Of course, that is true.
But here's the rub: MIKE WHITE IS ALREADY A WORLD CHAMPION! Yes, it was in PRCA.
Still, whenever they introduce Ty Murray, it is always as "nine-time world champion Ty Murray." Well, all nine of Ty's world titles are from the PRCA as well. Mike and Ty have won the exact same number of PBR world championships: 0.
Mike's a world champion rider and a world champion person and they need to start giving him his due.
I'll just jump down from my soapbox now and go back to work.

I agree, they don't give a lot of the guys their due.....maybe its time to take Ty Murray off that pedistal, or at least give everyone else (as in your example) equal respect.

I agree with Gus. Mike White is a world champion and quite frankly if the commentators can't or won't let people know that then they can just go play in traffic. I really don't care for the commentators if you can't tell.

I'm not sure its problem with the commentators. I think it may be a PBR thing. Because if you notice, there is hardly ever any mention of the PRCA or any other organizations during any of the broadcast. I think that they may not be allowed to talk about the PRCA. But, I will ask Leah the next time I call her. I'm sure she'll know.
Karen
And, yes Mike White is a Champion.

According to the PBR, the PRCA is a "minor league" association.

AMEN Gus!!! Mike White is and always will be a great champion!
This has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time. Although it does make for some interesting moments when they are trying to talk about the accomplishments of the riders but not say the name. I can think of a few of the moments at the beginning of the season when they were talking about B-Rich that were extremely awkward. Can not wait to see how they do this weekend especially with Colby who is making his debut so they do not have other PBR BFTS accomplishments to talk of!
I do not understand why if they feel that the PRCA is minor league (another pet peeve of mine but we will take them one at a time!) they are so afraid to say the name. I would think that it would be in their favor to show how successful riders in other associations are looking to compete in the PBR too. If you claim to have the best riders you should be bragging up every gold buckle they have regardless of the association that they earned it in.

A few years ago, when Cody Custer, Scott Mendes, Ty and Jim Sharp were riding, they made a point of introducing them and mentioning they were world champions in the PRCA. Those gold buckles aren't given away, they're earned, and the world champions deserve recognition. It's a shame the PBR has changed its stripes on this over the past couple of years.

But he hasn't won a PBR world championship and that is the one they are talking about. They should mention his PRCA championship to give a little clarification. I don't think they are forbidden to talk about his PRCA championship it's just that he's now trying to win a PBR world title and that's what is happening now.

I was thrilled to hear Rob finally mention Mike's accomplishments. I was also pleased with them at least mentioning the NFR during Colby's introduction as well.

I wouldn't mind it if they didn't say Ty Murray was a 9-time world champ. If they left that part out, I would understand completely. In my mind, Mike White hasn't won the PBR World Title, so they shouldn't mention him being a world champion on a PBR broadcast. But they also shouldn't mention Ty Murray as being a 9-time world champ either.
That's my only beef with it.
If the PBR and PRCA are two different organizations, which they obviously are, then keep them separate in everything.
