Maybe he'll be at some of the minor league events? I'm going to one in our area at the end of March.

I hope so too.
According to the PBR site, I think Tony Mendes has been cut as well. We have lost LOTS of great names this year to the cut line - everyone that's anyone. Tater Porter, Cory McFadden, Mike Collins, Paulo Crimber, Tony Mendes, Brendon Clark, Lee Akin, Willis Trosclair, you name it.
And now I've just found out that Ross Johnson and Bryan Richardson have been cut also. Wow. So surprising. Like I said, this has not been a good year for the fans as far as the cut line has been concerned.
Kody Lostroh of course got cut too, but he's back on the tour, and I'm sure his 3rd place finish at Tacoma helped him with that. So good to see him ride again. Like I may have mentioned I was in the Nassau Coliseum last year when Kody won it all there (and got to get his autograph - great guy).
Anyway, the press release about the 3rd cut has been posted on the PBR website.

Jamie, that means no Paulo for Chicago, unless he's bumped up because of injury.

I too am disappointed about the guys that get cut, I liked them all.
I do have a problem understanding why they cut "former world champions" and then say, due to that status they return? If Cody Hart was a world champion, why wasn't he allowed to return to the tour, he was cut and others weren't?
I guess I am just totally confused. I do understand the points thing, but not the above issue I brought up.
Guess I never will.
I bet these guys are mad they got cut and they will be back

Basically, they are just saying that the world champions were part of the group that got cut. If they didnt say anything about the world champions getting cut, some people would wonder why only 4 (3 in the case of this particular cut) riders were cut instead of 5.

LovePBR- Maybe you already know this but just in case.... ALL World Champions have the championship exemption. Basically they can miss events whenever they want and they get to compete at every REGULAR season event even if they are low in the point standing. They basically can never be cut from tour, to the point that they cannot compete. It is a luxary that comes with being a champion...it is good for the fans because traditionally the world champs are some of the fan favorites. CSB is right, they just announce it so people don't wonder if something fishy is going on.
Anyway, the one catch is that EVERYONE has to qualify for the World Finals. That is why last year we didn't see Cody competing and the year before Shivers didn't compete.
Also, a lot of times when they allow a world champ to stay on tour they will still bring up new guys and they will have 46 guys competing instead of the regular 45. I haven't paid attention to see if they did this this year or not but they have in the past. 2004 comes to mind with Troy Dunn and Chris Shivers, they had 47 guys at some events.
I hope this helps....

Yes, if they go by their rule book, any world champion that is not seeded becomes an extra competitor and the 45 does not include the riders riding under champion exemption. So we should be seeing some extra rides!
I also have to disagree with you Homeslice...I think it is great to see some new and hungry riders on tour. Yes I miss some of the guys that have gotten cut and wish them a quick return, but I also love seeing people like Dustin Hall, Cord McCoy, Jason Bennett, Willy Ropp, Colby Yates, Austin Meier etc on tour too.

Actually the rule book states that the top 35 are seeded. The other ten are made up of the five promoted riders from the CT standings, riders with injury exemptions who are returning, world champion exemptions, and injury alternates. Under this scenario it is possible that a world champion could be a 46th or 47th rider, but it is not automatic.

Oh no, I was gonna say that eventually - I don't know why I didn't the first time. Yeah, I mean from this whole scenario, yes, we're gettin' lots of new blood (and returning faces). I am excited as anyone else to not only see Dustin Hall and Jason Bennett back on the tour after so long, but riding extremely well. I am really excited for guys like Cord McCoy and Colby Yates, two guys I've watched often on PRCA telecasts. They're doing well also. So no, I wasn't trying to doubt anyone at all. I was just saying it sucks to see the other riders go but I failed to mention these new riders we're getting and how well they are doing. I like seeing them in action too.
