Official BOT for Guilherme in the short go was 1 second. Wonder if they just made that number up or there was another slap that we didnt see?

I don't fault you for sticking to your guns....but....your really starting to upset me....A LOT! Must be more than a little bit pissy that Chris had a crappy finals? Adriano Moraes does NOT have an "attitude"....Well maybe he does....He's got to have a little bit of an attitude in his sport....He's gotta believe that he can ride any bull they run under him and he's MORE than qualified to give and "expert" opinion being the oldest guy on tour right now.
Yeah the other guys guys were around Guilherme who was in the locker room sobbing, guys don't do tears girly, they'll do pretty much anything you want if you'll just stop crying! He knows he didn't "put up" when he had to so he had to "shut up". Yeah I wanted to see Guilherme win it but I'm more than happy that Adriano made history too. I think in the long run both guys are proud of each other and they're still gonna be buddies cause this isn't a you against everybody else sport this is a you against yourself sport, and this year Adriano's 36 year old body beat Guilherme's youthful body.
Name three times Adriano has ever been rude? You say he swore on camera. Maybe he did maybe he didn't, I don't know the language so I'm only going to lightly touch the subject. I'm sure you've never done anything you regret, right? If you answer no, your more delusional than I thought.
To JAK....Welcome to the board. It gets pretty interesting around here sometimes.

I drove 10 hours one year to see Adriano Moraes in Columbus one year and he was nothing but extremely polite to me, my friends and my family, he talked with us for almost 2 hours in the hotel lobby. So you little "he's extremely rude" comment is more than a little off the mark.
Like jamiesjustapbrfan said, I can't fault you for sticking to your guns, but I think your gun is shooting blanks.
I too wanted Guilherme to win but it was more than less than likely when it was a fluke he even made it to the short round.

I'll agree that you have guts for sticking to your original idea, even if I and some of the others don't agree with it. We all are entitled to have our certain riders that we don't care for too much, but I do think "hate" is an awful strong word to use. I do believe that you're wrong about Adriano's attitude. I got to meet him in 2004 and this year, both occasions at the Tampa event. I didn't see much of him in 04 since he got injured in the short go on Mudslinger. This year I was able to get his autograph as well as a picture but didn't really have the honor of speaking with him since we had pretty junky seats at the event (despite being in the "Team PBR section") and by the time we got over to where the riders were I practacally had to dive over people if I wanted a photo/autograph ect. Adriano did stop and talk to a girl, about 15 or so and talked to her for a while. The only attitude I saw him have was a nice one, with her as well as with anyone else he stopped to talk, give an autograph to, ect. Granted, he might have cursed or done other things you might not have liked and I'm not saying that those things are neccessarily okay, but everyone makes mistakes and does/says things they don't mean to. We all have regrets. No one's perfect, and if they think they are they've got another thing comming. But the two times I have met him he was nothing but polite to everyone that I saw him come in contact with.
Loved the gun firing blanks comment as well, it was great.
As a side note, I saw on another board somewhere (I think) that even if Guilherme got to keep the score on Just A Dream he still would have lost the world tilte by 8 points. Anyone know if that is accurate?

I'm pretty sure Marchi would have sealed the World Title if he would have stayed on Just A Dream. He only lost by 300+, and he would have finished in the top 10 with a ride on Just A Dream. I can't remember how many points he would have gotten for 7th or 8th place, but surely it was more than 300. He also would have gotten points for the short go which probably would have been 100 at least. As for Adriano's attitude in the arena, it's far from the best in the PBR. Most of my favorites (Mike Lee, Wiley, Jody Newberry) act the same whether they ride for the full 8 seconds or not. I am a fan of Brendon Clark though, and I've seen him get pretty upset in the past couple years. I don't care for it for the most part, but it happens. If I was a PBR rider, I'd probably be worse than Brendon Clark. I've also seen Adriano throw a little tantrum on more than one occasion this season. Outside the arena, I've only met him once, and he was as nice as could be. Just to play devil's advocate though ChrisShiversFan, you said you thought Marchi should have won it and that you don't care for Adriano's attitude. What did you think when Marchi kicked the panel after bucking off in the fourth round I believe? That was certainly no more than any other PBR rider has ever done was it? Or what about Chris Shivers hitting the side of that trailer outside the arena? I'm just curious.

All the talk of attitude and what not, deserve and what not. Who Cares? Adriano earned the title based on the points that were available. To do what he did in Round 7 and the Short Go would have been amazing for anyone, muchless a guy who has been questioned for his age and lack of focus at times. This Finals will go down as one of the all timers. And Why Not! Won by one of the all time greats. I've always liked Ty Murray, but his comments about Adriano at times began to wear on me. However, I understand that Ty is used to seeing Adriano ride everything. I gained a ton of respect for Ty after the Finals were over with his comments on Adriano. Saying he had to "eat his hat" with what he had said all year long and at the Finals.
Adriano Moraes 2006 PBR World Champ!!!!!

Adriano deserves the championship because according to the rules he did what it took to win it. Many of you know that I have always hated the PBR finals points system but the rules are the rules and Adriano won the title by riding bulls. Until the point system is changed the rider that wins may not be the most consistent rider of the season. As for Guilherme riding in the short go he also had the right to get on the bull he did. The rules that they have been playing by all year long state that if anyone in the top 15 is unable to ride they go to 16 etc. in this case there were two injuries to the top 15 guys.
As far as Adriano's attitude, I think others have shown examples of why that statement is false. He does get emotional in the arena, but with what they do if you are not emotional about it you may be in the wrong business. I have seen him be genuinely polite even at moments that he does not have to be with fans. He is extremely approachable and will stop to talk to any fan.
As for Ty's comments regarding Adriano, during his award acceptance speech Adriano actually thanked Ty for the harsh comments. He said that he would get phone calls about what Ty had said about him and he could not be upset because they were always truthful. It was usually something that he needed to hear.
I was surprised to see this as the main controversy coming out of the finals though I am shocked that the other controversial replay of the night was not the primary discussion. I am not sure how it shown on TV given all the "race for the title" talk but the ROTY race was determined by the replay call on Austin Meier. I honestly think that was the incorrect call of the night and I know that there are several people that had excellent views when it happened that felt the same way. JB is a great rider and a great kid and I was happy to see him with the buckle but I think that it should have been Austin on the stage that night.
It was an amazing finals! Anyone in the arena during the last round can tell you how tense the whole arena was. Can't wait for the 2007 season to begin!

Off topic, but just out of curiosity I went around and started doing some research to see if I could find any any reliable source that said anything about the points standings and how Marchi would have fared had he got to keep his score on Just A Dream. I finally came across an online newspaper article and had some of the information I was looking for. For the most part I was right, I just got the number wrong. Regardless the newspaper stated: "Brazil's Guilherme Marchi, the season leader entering the final round, was given a no score by the replay judge for slapping Just a Dream with his free arm. The decision wiped out an 88, but Moraes would still have won the title by nine points even if Marchi's ride had counted." If anyone would like to read the full article you can read it at: www.dfw.com/mld/startelegram/news/state/15939207.htm

Adriano Moraes does NOT have an "attitude"....Well maybe he does....He's got to have a . hey hey now lets not bring Chris Shivers into this topic... just kidding...still a little sensitive on that topic Anyways mlm18 I read that newspaper article too...and i thought it was interesting what it said. To tell you the truth i was sooo confued after round 7 about what the scoring was that all i knew was that if Sean Willingham rode, he would claim the title.... I never even had the slightest idea that Adriano could win it too. It came as a shocker! but you know what good for him! its awsome to see at age 36 hes still going strong! 2007's just around the corner, and we can wipe all this controversy away and start with a clean slate! WOOHOO!

Well, I was hoping that LJ Jenkins, Wiley Peterson or Mike lee would have won. With that said, I was extremely pleased to see Adriano win his third title. Rather you like him or dislike him the fact of the matter is he is the World Champion. Now is he my favorite, no but i respect him for what he has done for the sport, how he has mentored the youths of brazil to explore bullriding, and his never say die attitude that has made him 3 Time World Champion. You are so entitled to your opinion, but dont put down a champion, say he has an attitude and didn't deserve to win. You were wrong on all accounts and i am sticking to that opinion.

As I have said before and will keep saying. Everyone has the right to express their opinion. However that means that if you post your opinion on this board people also have the right to post disagreement with it.
I think UncleCharlie said it well, like him or dislike him as a person you can still respect his riding ability. There are several riders that I personally do not care for. But I will also admit that they are some of the best bull riders there are on the planet.
