Brett wasn't there this weekend? Huh - hadn't noticed! No, really - I did notice but not right away, and I thought it was a really great telecast without him. Justin and Michael make a great team and could continue perfectly well without that blow-hard Haber! Oh, and BTW: that purty little Tava is improving. There might be hope yet...........

I don't understand all the negative criticism Brett Haber recieves here and on other boards. All the critics say they don't like him but no one will ever point out exactly what it is about him they don't like.
When it comes to the OLN/PBR broadcasts, what you have is a World Champion bull rider who is steadily improving as a broadcaster. The "uh-uh-uh-ummms" are becoming less frequent. G-Man definitely has a role for a long time to come on OLN.
Add a seasoned rodeo announcer who is quick-witted and a walking database of rider, bull, and stock contractor knowledge. He is very comfortable behind the mic and in front of the camera. McKee cliche's are legendary.
Mix in a seasoned, major market broadcaster who is smooth and polished and has improved in his knowledge on bulls and riders. From the time the gate opens until the buzzer sounds, you don't need the video to see what is taking place in the arena.
When Shivers was knocked out in Laughlin, Haber handled the situation like only a professinal can.
Haber, McKee and Gaffney are a team. Together, they are a machine that hums along smoothly. When one is gone, something doesn't seem quite right. I for one noticed it instantly this weekend.

Justin gives you alot more ensight and does not have to cut it short when haber takes control. I like Haver but i really like the ensight of Mckee and Gaffney thats all. I respect Haber for his ability and he is a great commentator but please just be quite and allow the analyst to do their job. Then do yours.

I somewhat agree. The problem with that however is the event continuously moves forward. There is only so much time in between rides for information.
Case in point, Saturday night when Smiley was talking to Matt Bohon. We totally missed any commentary on Brian Canter's ride on Dixie Chicken. And it's possible Canter could be the big story from Worcester this weekend.
To each their own. But IMO, Haber completes the package. With the cards he brings to the table, you could put OLN audio on the radio and still "see" the ride.

I don't dislike Haber... but at the same time, I didn't miss him last night. I don't think we need three commentators, most other bull riding organizations only have 2 and sometimes bring in a "guest".
I guess I like the guys that KNOW bull riding. I would much rather have Jerome Davis, Ty Murray, Rob Smets, etc.. over Haber any day. Yes, I know McKee doesn't have a lot of hands on bull riding experience but he does have rodeo experience.. he is a roper and he knows what he is talking about.
So do I dislike Haber? no. Are there better people for the job? Yes. I will add that as far as non-rodeo/bull riding people go he beats Brett Hummer and Kenny Rice so that is mostly why I don't hate Haber.
BTW, if you want examples of why I don't "love" Haber then here you go 1.) he is arrogent on camera and off. and 2.) He hogs the spot light. Usually Haber makes up 50% of the commenting and Gaffney + McKee make up the other 50%.

Haber needs to stick to football. I dont think he has any genuine enthusiasm for bull riding, judging by the things he says and the sound of his voice. Personally, I think he is just doing the PBR deal to pay the bills, nothing else.
I'll take a few "uh-uh-uh-ummms" from a guy who gives a rats ass about the sport instead of some doofus who was shooed-in because he has a resume. Just because you can commentate other events does not mean you can commentate rodeo events.

I don't dislike Haber... but at the same time, I didn't miss him last night. Kelly pretty much summed up my opinions with her first sentence or so. I don't mind Haber to be honest, and I think he has greatly improved. That being said, I would be just as happy if it were Justin McKee and Michael Gaffney as a duo. Those two did really well by themselves. I'm fine with all three or just the two. It doesn't matter to me. I just don't like Kenny Rice much.

There's really only one thing about Brett H that I don't like - he always looks like he's holding back a burp or just getting ready to burp.
And yes, Tava is improving. ["Back to you guys" Goofy grin.] She'll get there.

Maybe if Tava would remove her top folks wouldn't notice her nose twitching from being nervous. I do admit the broadcasting has been better this year, but still miss Leah. Charlie
