Gag me with a spoon.
He so did not deserve this title this year. Interesting how everyone could be sentimental this year and give(and I mean GIVE as he did not earn it) him bull of the year.
Blueberry Wine performed like a BOTY last year and certainly had the performances to have earned the title but some kind of strange politics once again played against him. Perhaps had the Herringtons added the name Teague to the ownership things would have been different.
I am starting to wonder if they will ever get BOTY right again or if it is for sale every year now.
My vote would have gone to Dr. Proctor of course, real BOTY material.

As far as I see it... until you are tying your hand in a bull rope with the best in the world... we really do not have a right to complain about it.
It doesn't say that bull of the year has to be the rankest bull. Nowhere are guidelines listed telling them how to vote. IT is a vote and they choose what bull of the year means to them. If it were supposed to be "rankest bull" they wouldn't do a vote and simply go off stats alone.
I am so sick of hearing everybody complain about Mudslinger winning. Look at the stats, his average bull score is the 2nd highest bull score out of the 200 active bulls(probullstats- based on 3 years). Higher than any other candidate. The only bull that beats him wasn't even in the top 5. His average score is 92 pts and every cowboy wants their name next to him because they know they could win on him.

I think Mudslinger is very deserving of BOTY. He is a favorite bull of all the riders because he bucks well and the riders who do ride him usually get scores in the 90's. If anyone thinks he is not BOTY material, just remember that it is the riders who do the voting for BOTY. They obviously feel he is the best bull or they would not have voted him as BOTY.
Congrats to Mudslinger and to Page/Teague on such a great bull.

Kelly, we definitely have the right to argue with anything as long as we are putting money in the pockets of the riders, contractors, etc. If we are going off rankings solely based off outs on the BFTS (which should be all that counts), Big Bucks and Smokeless Wardance have a higher average rating I believe. I calculated the numbers before Columbus for my article, so they may have changed a hair, but I doubt they changed too much. Mudslinger may be ranked high at PBS, but BFTS outs is all that should count for the PBR bull of the year IMO. And bulls like Dr. Proctor and Scene of the Crash were out twice as much as Mudslinger, and their average scores weren't much lower.. I may not know what I'm talking about, but I believe Cody Lambert knows plenty. He said if they picked Mudslinger for BOTY, they were voting with their hearts and not their heads. What other proof do you need other than that? Are you saying that Cody Lambert doesn't know what he is talking about? You are always so quick to back up the PBR in 99.9% of the situations that arise, but trust me, it's ok to disagree once in a million situations. I'm as big of a PBR fan as there is, but I still agree and disagree with numerous things they do. It's not against the rules to orchestrate a little constructive criticism every once in awhile. Mossy Oak Mudslinger wasn't even in my top five for bull of the year, and I'm pretty sure he wasn't in Cody Lambert's top five either. I'll take my chances being on the same side of the fence with Cody Lambert over being on your side any day.

Cody, no we don't have the right to argue about it. None of US had a vote and until that changes your arguments can only go to the top 45 bull riders!
Like I said, BULL OF THE YEAR doesn't mean RANKEST BULL OF THE YEAR... otherwise it wouldn't be based on a voting system. It would be off stats and that is it. The fact that is isn't doesn't mean any bull deserves it more than others.
PBR fans are the biggest whiners I know... The only opinion that matters in BOTY is the bull riders. Fans put money in riders pockets because we like to watch what they do not because our favorite bull gets picked. I don't stop going to events because my least favorite rider won an event.
BTW, if only the people that put money in their pockets matter... how many of you have actually been to an event this year? I've been to 10 or 11, so does my opinion matter more??? That is ridiculous, the only people that have a right to be mad would be the stock contractors and I don't see them whining. In fact, I'll ask the ones I know in Vegas, and I bet all they will say is congrats to MOM and the Pages. It's called sportsmanship, they know that the riders vote and just like in any election, anything can happen.
edit: And I don't think we will ever hear Lambert say that MOM shouldn't have been in the top 5 or that the riders were WRONG. He did say they were voting with their heart but you know what? Where does it say that bull of the year can't be a sentimental one?
I am not saying you can't state your opinion but statements like "I mean GIVE as he did not earn it" and "wonder if they will ever get BOTY right" is inappropriate considering there is no one meaning to BOTY and Mudslinger was far from undeserving. Was he the best bull this year? no. But to say he absolutely didn't deserve it is just wrong because obviously the majority of 45 of the BEST bull riders in the world thought so.

I never said he didn't deserve it. I said there were others more deserving. But I do have EVERY right to argue the final decision, and I will. You have no right to tell me what I can and can't argue. I definitely have a problem with you in that regard.
And get off your high horse about going to 10 or 11 events. I pay for the VS channel on my cable bill every month, and television ratings help pay the PBR's bills as well.
What is the point of this message board? If we can't speak our opinions, then there is no point. By you telling me I have no right to argue decisions pisses me off to be quite honest, and you seriously need a reality check. If you don't need to be knocked off your PBR high horse, then I don't know who does.
I'll leave this topic alone now before I say things I regret. But your last post was an absolute pathetic shame at best.

The best bull going should win the award, and that didnt happen this year. Doesnt really matter if he has been a great bull for a number of years, what matters is this year. A lot of people felt the same way when LYJ got it for the third time - there were better bulls.

Cody, Heaven forbid you speak a negative opinion about a decision that was made.

He didn't speak a negative opinion. I HAVE NEVER said Mudslinger is the best bull. What I have been saying is it is a vote which means that the best bull doesn't necessarily get it. If the PBR means for BOTY to be the rankest bull then they should do away with the voting system and just go off stats. Since they still vote, it must mean they want to know which bull THEY (bull riders) think is deserving. If they wanted to know what fans thought then they would have us vote, they don't.
The references I was making of specific comments did not come from you. I was quoting another person on this thread. I didn't say you said he wasn't deserving... go up and read NoGeeks comment and you will see where I got those quotes from.
I am not on a high horse but if you are going to say that whoever pays has a say. My comment about how many events I've been to was going to how rediculous that comment was. We pay to get the NFL channels (700's) and do you think I have a say in who gets MVP of the game, whether a ref's call was right/wrong?? Sure I may have an opinion but that won't change a thing. Just like complaining about bull of the year won't change it.
I guess if you are willing to walk up to one of the bull riders that voted for him and tell him what you think of their pick and they were wrong, then great. Somehow, I doubt most people on this board would be willing to do that and so maybe they shouldn't criticize how the bull riders voted.

Cody, Heaven forbid you speak a negative opinion about a decision that was made. Ehhh...To each their own. We've all seen what happens when people take opinions the wrong way. It gets pretty ugly. I think we have all complained about something...Bulls, riders, judges, announcers, TV networks, etc. The way I see it, if nobody complains, you cant make a product better.

That is a very good point but change will only be made by complaining to the appropriate people. Nothing will change by posting it on a message board. I guess it bugs me if you complain for complaining sake. Oh well, everybody complain all you want about Mudslinger winning BOTY, I just won't be opening this thread anymore. Have at it... I don't think he is the best bull on tour right now but I will be choosing to honor/celebrate what was decided and give credit to the bull's owners.

There are more important PBR people reading this message board than you could ever imagine obviously. Trust me, I've been told first hand by people in PBR offices that they have been reading this message board since it was the ezboard. You would be surprised.
And I don't complain just to be complaining. If I disagree with something, I talk about it. I write for various websites on the internet (some small and some large), and speaking my mind is just the way I am. I don't do it just in spite. I didn't complain last year when Big Bucks won BOTY because he truly deserved the award more than any other bull.
There is no reason to sit back and accept everything just because it can't be changed. Like I said earlier, it's a message board. Some people like to come here and gossip about their drunken after-event parties, and some people like to come here and debate who is the best PBR bull rider, bull, etc. That's what makes it so fun.
If Terri wants to change things up, then I'll find somewhere else to debate my favorite PBR topics. Until then, either join in the debate and add something valuable to it instead of whining about people speaking their mind. Or you could just reprimand yourself from clicking the "reply" button at the bottom of the topic.
