Well since the Chicago thread has started to morph into Grand Rapids thread I thought I would officially start a Grand Rapids topic: Well you can count on myself and my friend Karla going to Grand Rapids. The only real decision to make is to fly or take the Lake Express ferry...LOL. We have not gotten tickets, but I did make the hotel reservation. I plan on going to both nights. I know it will be a blast with all the 8 Second fans. I would highly recommend NOT taking the ferry and flying if you are not planning on driving. I looked into the lake express last year and it takes more then 2 hours to cross the lake. Figure this in with the drive to where the ferry leaves in Wisconsin and where it comes into Michigan and it would take less time to drive the whole thing. Also the prices for it just went up to over $100 a person so it is not really more economical. If you watch Midwest Airlines and Northwest both fly direct from Milwaukee. Last year I found a flight for $108 round trip which included all of the taxes and fees. I am watching the flights right now to book my own and will let you know if I find any good deals. Depending on the details if we end up taking the same flights perhaps we can figure out a good way to share transportation to and from the airport.

That would be awesome. I checked Midwest today and they had flights at $198. I know the prices will probably come down since gas is so high (and so are the flights). One of my co-workers said it takes 8 hours to drive (not sure if that is true). Yes, please let me know if you find a good deal cause flying is only 45 minutes or so. I would also be more than willing to share transportation to the airport as well. I figure it is 5 months away so hopefully the airline prices will go down. The Lake Express is now at $95 round trip per person and $130 for the car which I think is high and why do you have to pay for both...shouldn't they give you a discount...it's not like my car is going to requre any food or liquor for the trip...LOL

Depending on how far you are from Chicago. It would take me about 3-3.5 hours to get from Chicago to Grand Rapids.
Can't wait for GR.... it will be a blast since Cindy, Marci, and possibly Mary will be there. As well as the Chi-town crew!! WOO WOO

I am about 2 hours from Chicago, so driving may be an option as well should the airline prices not go down (Midwest is at $198 right now and I did drive 6 hours to Minnesota for the PBR event). Ya know the saying"Come **** or high water" I will be at Grand Rapids...LOL. Thanks to everyone for all the info on getting to GR. I know it will be a blast and am so looking forward to going.

It's the plan for Ashley and I....It says that it takes 5 hours and 45 minutes to drive from my house to Grand Rapids.....That's not bad....It took us 5 hours to get to Minneapolis so what's another 45 minutes?! See y'all there!

Maybe we could have like an "8 second addicts" reunion since there will probably be a lot of us there all in one spot?

One thing to consider is that even though you are only 2 or 2 1/2 hours from Chicago you need to also coordinate the time of day you hit Chicago. It can take as long as 3 hours to get through Chicago if you hit it at the wrong time. Kelly and I were a 1/2 an hour from the hotel in Chicago at 4:30 and it took well over an hour to make it with the traffic and that was not hitting the real traffic closer to the city...so make sure you plan!

Well I just ordered my tickets for Grand Rapids and have my hotel reservation set as well. I am going both nights and my friend is going on Saturday. Too bad it is 4 months away. Somehow though I have a feeling the summer will go fast (it always does) and Grand Rapids will be here in no time. Anyone else have their tickets yet?

We have our Hotel but don't have our tickets yet. Going to both nights...Right Ashley? I hope these 4 months go fast....we ordered our tickets for Chicago in Feb and it felt like it took an eternity for it to get here once we got our tickets.

take your camera and try to get to anywhere you can meet the riders. if possible stay at the host hotel or find out which one they might be at. after the rides and sometimes before, they are usually in the lobby or just hanging around. be sure and stay for the singning after the rides-when they come around to sign autographs. it's up close and personal have a great time and let us know what you think

In chicago Ashley and I stayed on the same floor as Rob Smets and Brian Canter (room 1021 by the way). Also on Friday night after the event a lot of the riders were down in the lobby having a good time (yes there was booze and guitars involved)! My best moment was when Cory Rasch got right up in my face and asked me if I was Erin and you have NO IDEA how much it pained me to say no! Camera is definately a good thing! Notebook and pen/pencil to write down the experience so you don't leave anything out when you share it with us ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL!! But really just go and have a great time, if your old enough have a brewski for me, I won't be able to make it to GR this year.

Thank you, I wouldn't have thought about a pen or anything to write on for that matter, but a camera is on my list. I am way old enought to have one for ya, and if I'm not the one driveing I'll have more then one for both of us! lol!

Grand Rapids isn't like the other events... they usually don't hang in the hotel lobby because it isn't set up the way other hotels are. Usually the after parties are at dance clubs/bars but the PBR does have a Club PBR listed so it will be interesting to see where it is at. There is no hotel lobby bar and everything closes down at 2AM. So if you plan on staying up later... I highly recommend bringing your own alcohol. In past years the hotel is nice in the sense that they don't hassle you for having people in the room although they did make us sign something saying we wouldn't have a party consisting of 5+ people in the room. I personally have a good time in GR but that might be because it's soooo close.
Jamie, that is funny... My friend Erin was the person he was looking for, I didn't know he asked you if you were her!! Too funny! Her brother, Darren was telling him how she was a big fan and that she was sitting in the lobby, so he came in to say hi.
