Some questions about the hotel for the Grand Rapids veterans ;D:
1) Have they used this hotel before? and if they have have they ever required a deposit?
2) Is there really a one night deposit on the hotel room? The reason I ask is I actually called the hotel to see what the amount of the deposit would be (cause when I made the reservation they didn't tell me the number just that there would be a deposit) and the very nice gentleman from the hotel told me that if you used a Credit Card to make the reservation (which I did) the only deposit that they required was a security deposit or if you were checking in after 6 pm a deposit was required to hold the room until you got there.
3) If there is a one night deposit required on the room I wonder who's requiring it cause it does not appear to be the hotel itself?!
If anybody has any idea's let them fly cause me and the people who are going with me to GR are making plans this weekend of course there isn't anyone in the PBR offices (apparently they think they need the weekend off? Just Joking around)
Thanks, Jamie

I think most hotels require a credit card to hold the room after 8:00 p.m. A lot of times when I make a reservation at a hotel, they ask for a credit card to hold the room. When I get there, they will ask if i want to keep the room on my card and if I pay cash (which sometimes they charge a fee to cover any room charges...room service/phone calls... etc.) but will give you the deposit back when you check out. When I went to Chicago, I held the room on a credit card, but wanted to pay cash and when I checked out, they gave me $40.00 back. I booked my room for GR through the PBR and they didn't say anything about having to pay for the first night. Even if they do charge you for the first night and you decide to pay cash when you get there, they will just reimbuse your card. I went to Las Vegas and I was going to pay cash when I checked in and the lady at Red Rock said I would have to pay $150.00 extra per day to cover any charges to my room (meals, drinks), but I would get whatever I did not use back when I checked out. They said I could just keep everything on my card so I would not get charged the $150 extra. Also, I know if you have ever booked a room during the summer in the Dells, they make you pay for the first night as well as a grauntee that you will show up cause it is their high season and if you cancel, they keep it and I think that GR hotel prob. does the same(most hotels do. Hope this helps.

I just talked to the people in charge of the hotel situations for events and they said that a one night fee would be charged to your card. Apparently last years group was a bit rowdy and the hotel is now requiring a deposit which will be charged about August 18. I also learned that when you check in the first night and are staying more than one night all you are responsible for paying for are any other nights stayed in the hotel.
