Well I just got back from one of our local PRCA rodeos and I have to tell you it was great! Great rough stock (thier timmed event stock could use a little help) and great riders. BJ Schumacher won the performance with a great ride. Spud Whitman also came very very close to riding Dippin Cooter. He missed it by a few tenths of a second. JD Hoagland also made a qualified ride, although his bull hesitated at the end of his ride and he was out of shape the last second or so so he ended up with a lower score. Fred Boettcher also competed but unfortunatly the bull whipped him pretty quickly.
One other notable name was Kelly Timberman who competed in the bronc event and I believe ended up 3rd in the performance.
There are 2 more performances but with the strength of the riders and some of the stock tonight I think that it will be hard to top.
I highly reccomend that anyone that gets a chance to go check out the PRCA when they get near you. It is worth it!

Terri, Was J Bar J the stock contractor in Medford. If so it sounds like a ditto of the PRCA Franklin, TN rodeo here a couple of weeks ago. The roughstock was excellent, but steers had been run way too many times and quickly learned to take five steps then stop. charlie

Nope it was JS stock. Several of the steers decided that taking a hard right out of the gate and huddling in the corner was a good way to go! A few of the roping steers also decided that there was no reason to keep going and just stopped too. You are dead on in the comparison to the J Bar J stock from what I have seen. They both tend to bring amazing rough stock but their timed stock is not always of the same caliber. It was not horrible timed stock (I have seen much worse), it was just not as good as thier rough stock and had a few duds that really stood out. This could be in part because of the PRCA requirements put on contractors to provide all stock and I would think that it would be hard to be really good at doing both.

I wish I could make it to Salinas. I just don't have the time with school and all. So, I have to pick and choose which rodeos and PBR's I want to go to. Since I'm going to Laughlin, I can't go to Salinas. I am planning on going to Clovis next year though. Karen

Clovis is alot of fun. I did alot of team roping events there and oakdale. They were alot of fun. They used to have team penning and we would do that also.
