Friday, Dec 2, 2005 should go down as one of the greatest days in rodeo history! 5 time world champion saddle bronc rider Billy Etbauer made an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman. No, not just a quick cameo; Billy received just as much air time as Madonna, Billy Crystal or Julia Roberts would have gotten.
Dave showed Billy's amazing 10th round 2004 ride on Cool Alley that sealed his championship as well as a few other rides and wrecks.
Dave, admit-tingly a bit naive about rodeo, did treat Billy with respect and admiration. He also stated he is a rodeo fan.
This was an unprecedented step in showing main stream America our sport.
I am shocked that nearly 24 hours later, nothing was posted on this board concerning this monumental occasion. It's tragically ironic and goes to show you that we are still generations away from getting our sport where we all want it to be.
Happy Holidays! I hope everyone is enjoying the NFR. By the way, it's on ESPN and ESPN2 through 12/11/05.

Being a HUGE Billy Etbauer fan, but lacking the same enthusiasm for David Letterman, I surely would have watched had I known Billy was going to be on!!! Gimme8 - you would've done a huge favor to all of us here had you posted a head's up ahead of time and let us all know this was going to be on! (Unless you didn't know yourself??)

Yeah, I could care less about watching David Letterman. That guy is a goon!
And how the heck were we supposed to know Billy Etbauer was going to be on. I don't know who is going to be on any of those late-night shows.
Edit: Also, 8 Second Addiction is predominately a PBR board.

Cody, if you get TV Guide magazine (or you can access TV Guide's website), they normally say who is scheduled to appear each night, with "scheduled" being the key word since it seems like guests such as Billy Etbauer are added to the line-up as a second thought, since they aren't mainstream America's "celebrities". And since I really cannot stomach Mr Letterman, chances are I wouldn't even look to see who he's got on his guest roster. Geez, and I thought I was the only one who didn't like Letterman................... - Dana

Not the only ones!! I am a Jay Leno fan so if I am watching a late night show... it's Jay. I have to say I am glad the Oprah/Dave thing is over... I AM SOOOO SICK of those commercials! Usually, I am doing others things at that time so I watch Conan when getting ready for bed (unless it's a bar night then I usually crash when I get home!)
