PRCA announces 2006 Wrangler ProRodeo Summer Tour
12-stop Tour to feature numerous familiar stops
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 4, 2006 – The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) along with Pro Rodeo Tour LLC, is pleased to announce the dates and locations for its 2006 Wrangler ProRodeo Summer Tour. Like the 2006 Wrangler ProRodeo Winter Tour, the Summer Tour will feature 12 stops and will run from mid-June through September, culminating with the three-day Summer ProRodeo Tour Finale Sept. 28-30.
Eight of the 12 events will be televised on Fox Sports Network (FSN). The Tour will feature nine stops that were on the 2005 Summer Tour, one that was on the Tour in 2003 and two stops making their ProRodeo Tour debut. The Reno (Nev.) Rodeo, which has been on the Tour since its debut in 2000, kicks off the 12-stop series on June 24 and the Tour will conclude with one of the new stops, the New Mexico State Fair and Rodeo in Albuquerque, N.M., on Sept. 23. In 2002, the New Mexico State Fair was featured as part of ESPN’s Road to the Wrangler NFR package.
The Prescott (Ariz.) Frontier Days will make its Tour debut as the second stop on the Tour with the final round being held on July 4. The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo in Colorado Springs, Colo., returns to the Wrangler Tour after a two-year hiatus. The final round for that rodeo will take place on July 16.
