Well the field for the Pace has been set and when the dust settled in Guymon this weekend the field looks like this: Rank Name Hometown Tour Points 1 Sonny Murphy Herriman, Utah 93 2 Matt Austin Wills Point, Texas 87.5 3 Dustin Elliott North Platte, Neb. 76.75 4 Wesley Silcox Payson, Utah 76 5 Jason McClain Lewis, Colo. 74 6 Fred Boettcher Rice Lake, Wis. 73 7 Cody Hancock Taylor, Ariz. 57.5 8 Mike Moore Kankakee, Ill. 57 9 B.J. Schumacher Hillsboro, Wis. 50.5 10 Zack Oakes Tonasket, Wash. 46.5 11 J.C. Bean Goldendale, Wash. 45.5 11 Jesse Bail Camp Crook, S.D. 45.5 It looks like a great field to match up with the great bulls that are going to be there. Fred Boettcher won the Guymon event followed by Sonny Murphy who secured himself the top spot going into the event. BJ Schumacher also made a strong showing to secure his spot. Jesse Bail did just what he needed to do to edge out some tough competition for the 12th spot. Tulsa will be huge for all of these riders as it is conceivable that a rider could secure an invite to the NFR this weekend in Tulsa. If a rider was to win the Xtreme ride hard event in Tulsa on Thursday and the Pace the money won would give the rider almost enough to qualify for the NFR. The field also has another interesting trend. In the past the bull riding contest list has been dominated by the riders from the South Central US. This year there are 3 riders from East of the Mississippi and other riders from through-out the US. Further going to show that bull riding is gaining wider popularity. It is also a testament to the bull riding programs through out the country that are helping to produce some excellent bull riders. Look at the list makes me wonder just one thing...Cammy do you have a free room this weekend? hehehe
