So I watched the '07 San Antonio Xtreme Bulls event today on ESPN (just missed the Rapid City one, though, as I had no idea it was even on), and who else should I hear broadcasting but the ol' super team of Dan Miller and Don Gay! Oh man, that brought me back years. So great to hear them together again, and I hope that they decide to be the same duo for years to come again (by that I mean they don't decide to replace Dan next year).
Who else watched and noticed this?

I caught most of the SD event in the hotel room in Anaheim but had to run to the arena and missed the second broadcast. It was a great show. I don't really care for Donnie Gay as a TV commentator I like him better as an arena announcer. But he got the job done and I sort of end up tuning them out anyhow. Overall it was a good production.
I have to give major props to the bullfighters in SD too. They had some amazing talent and made some amazing moves! I was extremely impressed.

Well, to each their own.
I grew up watching Dan and Donnie (and of course, Pam Minick behind the chutes) commentate, and boy, the fun I had. I was sad when they left the PBR. Justin McKee did take a bit of getting used to but IMO he's become one of the best ones going for the PBR.
I've never heard Donnie live, but I'm sure he's good there too.

I was actually freaked out when Donny left the PBR. I was afraid losing him would ruin it for me but thank goodness I got attached to Justin McKee pretty fast. Now Justin makes me chuckle almost as often as Don Gay did - I even have a typed list of the things Don used to say that made me burst out laughing so loud it would make my dogs jump. My list is a treasured memory from the "old days" of the PBR. Don doesn't joke around near as much on Xtreme Bulls as he did in the PBR events or say the outrageous and crusty (and totally hilarious) things he said back then.

I love Donnie. He's a funny man and really nice and fun to talk to. He did the PBR ET event in Jackson, TN back in Jan and we got to meet him after. Super nice guy to be around.

I was afraid I'd enjoy the PBR a bit less after he and Dan and Pam left, but luckily, I like Justin McKee. And he's had a good bunch of funny phrases of his own over the years since becoming a color commentator. I still watch some of my old PBR tapes just to hear Don Gay and his wisecracks again. He was better then than he is now, but don't get me wrong - he still is good with the Xtreme Bulls telecasts. Among those tapes I have a few events from the Bud Light Cup (circa 2000) that had not only Dan and Don, but Tuff in the booth as well. Those were good telecasts.

I wonder if Justin McKee got the "yard dart" and "hood ornament" jokes from Don Gay? But Justin has never said things like "He'll blow snot in your underwear" and stuff like Donny did. LOL!

I've long been a fan of the Don Gay terms "Chiliwinder" and "Singin' Soprano". Awesomeness!
I like some of the terms McKee has come up with as well, such as "Horn Sandwich" and "Human Scud Missile", among others. And was it McKee who came up with "throw up in his hat" whenever a cowboy bucks off either close to the whistle or bucks off a bull who performs terribly?

I think I know what happened to my "Donny Gay" list. Someoe took my clipboard when I was moving. I think that list was on it. Here are the lines I remember: YARD DART! IT'S RAININ' COWBOYS! ROTO-ROOTER! SHEESH-KEE-BOB HOOD ORNAMENT HE BLEW SNOT IN HIS UNDERWEAR SINGIN' SUPRANO THE LIGHTS ARE ON BUT NOBODY'S HOME THE BULLS WON
