My prayers are with him megz!! A person I work with was sent to the coast...don't know which part. There's about 100,000 evacuees here in Arkansas. I've been seein Louisiana plates just as much as Arkansas ones and they've opened up Barton Coliseum, a couple of sports complexes and tons of churches up to them. I also know some people who have opened up their homes. It's just amazing how Americans can pull together when something like this happens.

It is a terrible thing that happened to the Atlantic Coast i have many friends that have helped down there including sending amphibious vehicles loaded with water and also my friends at the convoy of hope. god bless all them and may the deceased rest in peace, and may their children be provided for.

I just found out that my brother flew down to go help out with the relief effort today. He has a dump truck and excavation business and they hired him down there. So I'm kinda gettin a taste of what you're going through, Megz! Not near as much, though. I'll continue to pray for your Dad! Hope all is going well. I know that him and my brother and both doing a great thing. They need all the help they can get down there right now.

I know alot of you are animal lovers, and I just wanted to remind everyone that the animals on the Gulf Coast are suffering, too, because of Katrina - probably even more so, since so many had to be left behind when their owners evacuated. Please consider when being generous to think of donating to an animal-related relief organization, too, in addition to giving to other relief organizations. Some reputable organizations are: The Humane Society of the United States www.hsus.org American Kennel Club www.akc.orgOr you may decide to look for an organization that is located in the afflicted areas, but please beware: there are just as many scams out there for the pet relief efforts as there are for humans!! Our local human organization just returned back from the afflicted area and brought back 49 cats & dogs to house until their former owners can be found, or if that's not possible, to find new homes for. Perhaps there's someone in your area who is doing something like that. If so, they sure could use your generous donations! Thanks! - Dana
