Instead of donating to Mandalay Bay this year, we just booked a trip to Mexico for a week in April. Swimming the Caribbean Sea on horseback, Mexican style rodeo, cock fights, and La Charreria sounded awesome to me. Has anybody been to Mexician events or better yet to the Moon Palace resort? Apparently they got trashed in the hurricane, but are rebuilt and running 100% for the last 90 days. Any advise on Cancun or the island of Cozumel? Cowboy4443

Ive seen a mexican rodeo, the riders use extremly sharp spurs. Ive seen them buck-off, then there spurs gets caught in the bulls hide, and they just hang there by there spur till the hide tears away. Even some of them actually tie there legs on. It is something differant to watch.

Went to a Mexican rodeo once, a long time ago. Honestly I didn't like it at all. I especially hated one of their events..horse tripping. Don't know if they still have that event in their rodeos, but if they do, trust me, it will make you sick. Bull riding at that time was a joke. Spurs were sharp, large sharp hooks sewn into their chaps, and ropes with double hand holds. At that time they didn't have eight second limits. It was who could stay on longest....and they would use anything to stay on. Like I said, it's been years (at least 15) since i went to one. So not sure if anything has changed or not. Just don't go expecting them to "play" by the same rules as we do.
