We got in a big argument at several my Little Britches rodeos...in that organization the jr bull riders (basically steers) arent allowed to take any sort of wrap...and we argue about how it should be the riders choice but my argument is with the senior bull riders (which is what I am in) we can take a wrap but no pinky wrap and I argue with them that it should be our choice...if we get hung up its our fault. so I want to know what some of yalls opinions are so maybe I can use your arguments and another question is for those of you who actually ride...Do you take a regular wrap or a pinky (so called "suicide wrap) wrap?

I dont personally think that you need to take a pinky tuck in order to cover more bull's. I rode bull's for 6 years before I even took one, and that was just due to breaking some bone's in my hand and it was harder to hold onto the rope with just a wrap. That's just my two cents for what it's worth.

Well...as far as the little kids, I dont think they need to, half the time there so scared....they dont let go, it looks like there hung up...but all they need to to do is just open there hand. As far as the seniors, your not gettin on really rank powerful bulls. Im sure they may seem like it, but im pretty sure there not that bad. There is no need for a pinky wrap. Just out of curiosity....what kind of bullfighters are there? Are they just learning, or seasoned veterans? If your still riding in Little britches or High school....im pretty sure YOUR still learning as well. They make that rule to protect you and everyone else. At your level, if your hand keeps getting popped out......your not riding right. But.....thats just me......

I can understnad the jrs not being able to take a pinky wrap but they cant take any sort of wrap. Our bull fighters are very experienced. And as for not gettin on rank and powerful bulls...go to Texas High School State Finals and Little Britches Nationals and tell me they are not rank. A pinky wrap doesnt make as much difference as it used to with the bull ropes being made the way they are now...if your hand rolls over you are gonna get hung up no matter what. You could be a 10 time world champion and still be learning so it doesnt matter what division I am in...bull riding is an on-goin learning process.

i have rode in a few little britches and i dont like riding without a wrap and the rule is for all of the really little kids that ride. but then i can see how not taking a wrap can keep any one safe. most of the early part of this year i didnt ride with a wrap because my doc said not to for a while after i broke my elbow in 3 spots so i didnt but i started using a wrap about 5 weeks earliar than i was supposed to and i hung up to a few and it didnt hurt as bad as i thought it would it put some torque on my are but it dont hurt much

Well, ya got me on the bullriding is an ongoing learning lesson. Ive never been to a Texas High school rodeo, but I have been to the National Little Britches and High school nationals. Ive also been to PRCA,PBR, NFBA,etc...And if you think the nationals bulls are rank......just wait. As far as hangin up......its ALOT easier to hang with a pinky wrap, and ALOT harder to get out of. But....what do I know, Im not from Texas, and we all know thats where you have to be from to ride bulls!!!!
