As we head into the first event of the year it is never too early to think about the first cut of the season. Results from the weekend events look something like this:
Toro Del Conchos USSTC Challenger event in San Angelo, Texas results: 1) Austin Meier (Checotah, Okla.) 174 points, $7,067; 2) Cord McCoy (Tupelo, Okla.) 172 points, $5,093; 3/4) Lucas Dick (Burton, Kan.) 171.5 points, $2,884; 3/4) Bowdy Peach (Mooreland, Okla.) 171.5 points, $2,627; 5) Beau Hill (West Glacier, Mont.) 171 points, $1,305.
Alan's Jewelry and Pawn Enterprise Rent-A-Car event in Asheville, N.C. results: 1) William Shoun (Roan Mountain, Tenn.) 169 points, $3,478; 2) Brian Canter (Randleman, N.C.) 87.5 points, $3,478; 3) Cory Rasch (Clarksville, Tenn.) 84.5 points, $2,236; 4/5) Jay Pahlke (Bismarck, N.D.) 84 points $795; 4/5) Matt Pojanowski (Forest Lake, Minn.) 84 points, $795.
Congrats to Austin on his win. It is also great to see Cord at the top too. Between that and Bryan's win in Vegas could we be seeing more traditionally PRCA riders on the BFTS tour after the first cut? It is always great to see Bowdy's name in the money too.
I can't say that I am familiar with William Shoun but congrats to him on his victory. Looks like Brian and Cory are staying in shape for the upcoming BFTS too. Big congrats to Matt Pojanowski as well. Although he is not quite a hometown boy to me he is pretty close. Can't wait to see how the next events shake out!
