I should know early Monday if I am coming for sure. The only thing that may stand in the way is if I can not find a flight that will allow me to work a 1/2 day and still get there in time for a decent price. It is looking like an 80% chance right now that I will be there. It is a very impressive list of riders at the event as well! Can't wait!!

Well alert the bars to stock up on Jack and Corona! I have made my reservations and will be there Friday afternoon leaving Sunday.
I noticed that Jarrod Ford is scheduled to ride on Friday night. Wonder if Jarrod Ford #2 will show up on Broadway again!
The Nashville invitational is the official name. Makes it sound pretty impressive doesn't it?

Hmmm...I thought Steve said something about being in Nashville on a Friday night, but I coulda sworn he also said he was going to be riding in Oakland on Feb. 10th and 11th, too.

Steve is an alternate on Friday night in Nashville and is an alternate in Oakland on Saturday. Last time I talked to him he was not sure yet what his plans were and if he was making the trip to Nashville but thought he might get it all figured out this week sometime.

Well Nashville is in the books and the winner was Colby Yates who put together two very impressive rides to win Saturday night as well as take the overall event average.
Friday nights champion was my home state rider Fred Boettcher. He drew two great bulls and made a great short go ride with a lot of hustle to win the night.
Cord McCoy wins the award for getting on the most bulls. The final three that he got on were all within a matter of min as his reride was done at the end of the long go, on which he was given another reride. After covering that bull he was then back at it a few min later in the short go. Unfortunately, that bull took a huge leap out of the chute and got him on the ground quick.
The heartbreak ride goes to Craig Sasse who had a great ride going that certainly would have put him on the money list but came up just short of the whistle at 7.7 seconds.
Overall it was a fairly decent event (although not having day sheets available was a big disappointment for a lot of fans). A lot of great riders were there from all over the country. Several of the Frontier and Western Rodeo bulls performed well. A few of the other bulls left a lot to be desired making it a bit of a drawing game.
Donnie Gay also served as a commentator along with the announcer. His insight made the event a ton of fun. He certainly is not afraid to tell it like it is and would tell the cowboys exactly what he thought of their chances their techniques and what they needed to do. He was also very good about letting the audience know of the accomplishments of the riders without hesitating to mention other associations. One of my favorite moments of the event was one most people never saw. Two of the young riders came to the podium during the break to shake Donnie's hand and talk to him. It was fun to see the new generation of riders talking to one of the legends and them feeding off each other's energy.
On top of it all the city of Nashville is always a good time. If it isn't you are doing something wrong. I highly recommend making a trip to Nashville for anyone looking for a good time!

Donnie Gay also served as a commentator along with the announcer. Donnie Gay commentating at a PBR event?? Does anybody besides me find this to be very odd?? I feel Donnie is extremely knowledgable about the sport, a more than capable commentator, and is interesting and loads of fun to listen to, and I miss seeing him on the PBR telecasts, but with the "parting of the ways" a couple years back appearing not to go very well, it surprises me to see him working a PBR event. Plus the fact that he is so involved in the CBR, I just find this to all be a little weird. Not a bad thing, just a weird thing...

I've been lurking for a while but I have to reply to this one. Donny and the PBR did not have the huge falling out that a lot of people seem to think. They wanted him to go to all of the events and he didn't want to. Simple enough.
Donny commentates at more than a dozen PBR events every year. He also commentates at CBR and PRCA events. Donny does what's best for Donny, he doesn't have any particular stake in one association since the WBF went kaput.
Other announcers also give credit to other associations. I heard Brandon Bates mention the NFR and PRCA in the arena at a cup about three weeks ago and that's not the only time that's happened this year.
Please get the facts before making statements...If I get my facts wrong sometime please let me know.
Nashville was a pretty good event. Some of the younger bulls were not too good, and the ground was crappy, at least the night I was there. But it was pretty good overall.

Welcome to the board, glad to have you here!
You are correct other associations are occasionally mentioned during other events. But my point is a lot of times you also hear the commentators/announcers searching for words trying not to come right out and state the names of other associations. A perfect example of this was during the Minneapolis event when they were talking about Bryan Richardson and that although he was not a familiar name in the PBR he had proven himself. They almost seemed afraid to say the letters NFR or PRCA and never actually did. I am not saying that other announcers never mention them, just that Donny did an exceptional job of calling the guys accomplishments in other associations out.
Not sure what night you were there but the ground was about the same both nights, as you said pretty crappy.

Talked to Blue and he told me that it was way better the second night. Probably looked about the same from the stands, but he said that less bulls slipped and a guy could actually run on it.

Please get the facts before making statements... I don't know if this was directed at what I said? If not, fine. If so, what I said in my earlier post was it APPEARED that the PBR and Donnie didn't end on the best of terms - that's how it came across to me, general public USA. A few months after Donnie left the PBR commentating crew, I got to meet him at a local bullriding. And while I didn't get more than a few minutes of his time, what he said - or maybe more how he said it - gave me the impression that he and the PBR didn't part ways on the best of terms. Since I wasn't able to "interview" Donnie to get the "facts", I have only what I walked away with - a sense that things didn't end very well.

Please get the facts before making statements...If I get my facts wrong sometime please let me know. Wow, another cranky day eh? I can tell by the name. We like each other here at 8 Second Addiction. Well, some of us anyway. And by the way, who the heck is your source? Are you Donny's 3rd cousin or what? As for the event, it sounds like it was worth the money for an ET event. We will be seeing a lot of those guys this weekend I guess.

I don't think tired is being cranky just saying things as he sees them. I also have a sneaking suspicion that he has some very solid sources...of course I could be wrong.
He is absolutely correct about Donny doing other PBR and other association events as well. That is not an opinion but a statement of fact that can be proven.
