Who, if anyone, is going to be going to this event? I know I'll be there (well, on the Sunday performance anyway). And as I am a Long Islander, there's no need for hotels! I just take the Long Island Rail Road to Penn Station, and I'm as good as there!
I can't wait for this; it's going to be exciting!

....hate to be a double-poster, but I guess no takers, huh?
No one ever seems to be interested in my posts, either.

There isn't a whole lot of interest anywhere around the 8 Second Addiction community anymore. I'm pretty sure it's just about dead which is truly a shame. At one time, it was a great place to visit and debate all kinds of bull riding topics.
Have fun in New York Roberto! The PBR is hyping the event like crazy, and I'm sure they have a few tricks up their sleeves for the weekend ahead.

Sorry Roberto I was off due to the holidays and the Atlanta event and I know a lot of other board members are spending time away with family for the holidays. Unfortunately I will not be making NYC. I know a few people that were looking at the event but the cost of it is substantially higher then the other events so many people are opting to skip NYC and head to other events. You will have to give us a full report when you return. By the way #BIRTHD110#HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! #birthday2#
On a side note it should be intresting to see what bulls are at the event. NYC can be quite hard on them as far as travel and actually getting into the arena. I would suspect that some contractor may choose to not bring some of their bulls.

I have to say that this performance was just awesome! I went on the best day too, it seemed. Lots of rides in rounds 3 and 4! The 'boys are sure stepping up their game this year. I had a decent view of everything for $25, but of course, I had to fight my way to the bottom floor for the autographs. I got several, much better than last year when I didn't get a single one (as no one came out for autographs that day...hmmmph). The 'boys that signed my program include: Guilherme Marchi, Wiley Petersen, Robson Palermo, Kody Lostroh (I told him about how I was at Uniondale in '05 when he won it all there), Matt Bohon (I asked him how does he like NY, he said it's too busy...heh), Brendon Clark, Renato Nunes, Adriano Moraes (I was one of many fans that said "don't go!" but I know he's gotta), Mike Lee, Jason Bennett (twice, once in my program and once on my scoresheet, which he saw first), Luke Snyder, Silvanei Dias, L.J. Jenkins, Clayton Williams (took me a while to recognize him and boy, do I feel dumb!), Cord McCoy (that gash from round 3 had definitely sunken into his forehead!; I said "Are you ok?" He said, "Yeah, I'm not hurt." He is a heck of a nice guy, I agree), Ednei Caminhas, Tony Mendes, Ned Cross, Cole Taylor, and a few others on my scoresheet whose names I couldn't recognize (again, I feel dumb....though I think one of the signatures said Davey Dyke and another said Tyler Pankewitz). A lot of signatures and boy, do I feel special (me being an old-school fan, after all). However, while I was trying to get one's signature (Clayton's, probably), I missed a few others, including Dustin Hall. Oh well. But all in all, this was fun, and I hope they do it again next year! Here's some action I was able to snap shots on: A view of the opening light show from my seat.... Ready for action! The big screens high above the arena.... Pretty sure that's the commentators' booth (sorry for the bad quality, but I was trying to zoom in).... A little entertainment at intermission with something driving around.... Caught in the act! Kiss her already, Tony! ;D I think it was someone's birthday or something, 'cause there goes Flint. And, here's yours truly. I know, the sweater's colorful. ;D

I thought of making a new thread but I just decided to revive this one so I could ask: is anyone going to the NYC event in '09? I plan to - just gotta get my ticket. I'll probably do the Sunday thing only, though I haven't ruled out Saturday yet.

Well, okay, thought I'd post thoughts and pictures. I only managed to go to the Sunday performance (aka the performance that really matters, not that none don't matter). It was fun to watch, though disappointing when considering that some of the nicer rides and tough wrecks didn't make it to TV. And there was no way to get to the cowboys after the event due to extremely long (and non-moving) lines. Thus I got no autographs. Oh well. Anyway, here's what I got for you this time. Apologies for the quality of some of these pictures, as my camera (Kodak EasyShare C653) ain't the best. Very tough to zoom in from where I was sitting. Here we go: Ignore the Sesame Street sign.... The view from my seat, moments before they began. And here's me. Of course. During the intro....again, sorry for the blur. And there's the champ.... Kody Lostroh in action! Short-go draft taking place. I was late for this because of my need for food... This vehicle provided some intermission-type entertainment....I think it did some stunts or something, I dunno. Flint being Flint, as always. And now a word from the winner.... And that's all for now. Maybe next time (if there's one) I oughtta go to all performances. Might be worth it!

Sounds like you had a good time, Roberto! I was going to try and make the Winston-Salem event this year, but I got laid off work just before Christmas. I've never been, so tell me, do they parade out the bulls at the beginning? Do they showcase them in any way?

Sorry to hear you got laid off, Jaye.
And no, they don't usually bring the bulls out - except maybe one of the superstars (but then again, NYC is usually the only event I get to go to, so who knows). Otherwise, the intro usually shows most of the top 45 riders coming out, with special intros reserved for all the former world champions.
