Willis and Tommy got in a fight with Schmutz (the arena announcer). This was at the Finals. However, I don't think he was suspended because he was riding at the finals after the fight occured. I am fairly certain that Tommy told me that Willis got fined.

So you don't have to ride if you are a past World Champion? If that is the rule, then I guess he can do what he wants. It's always nice to have a defending champion in the draw, however. They didn't even mention Mike Lee, sorry suckers. Heard through the grapevine that Justin is choosing to use what they call "world champion exemption" which means any past or current World Champion can ride wherever and whenever he wants at any BFTS show even if he is not in the standings.

The break hasn't been long enough for Justin? I might take some flack for this, but I really don't like his decision to skip Minneapolis unless the reason is good. If it has to do with some family problems or something, that's fine. But if he is just skipping the event for himself, that's pretty crappy.
He is the reigning world champ, and the PBR needs him to show up in order to grow the sport.
But I'll hold back until we find out the true reason he is missing.

they say he also has broken screws in his leg, hand and elbow that are causing some pain...eventually he will have to have surgery on this. Also his agent claims that his schedule has been really busy since the finals, and he just wants a week to relax and have time to himself. He will be at worcester though, but i still think an event is not the same with out the world champ there.

If it's legit then fine take the event off...but if he's just jerking us around, as I said on the Fried Twinkies Blog "Seems to me someone has got his World Champion buckle a little too tight and its cutting off circulation to his brain.” Jamie

If it's totally %100 legit, he could have gotten a medical excuse from Tandy.

2005 defending Professional Bull Riders' (PBR) World Champion Justin McBride (Elk City, Okla.) is conspicuously absent from the Minneapolis Invitational contestant roster. No PBR World Champion in the organization's history has successfully earned back to back championships and there is a determined pack hot on McBride's heels. McBride expects to curb his schedule in 2006 and has the option of attending select tour events according to PBR regulations. McBride might slow his pace but stated, "My expectations are the same as ever, but I achieved my main goal that I have had since I was a little kid of being the PBR World Champion, and I may feel less pressure this year. I don't want to do anything average or second rate, but this year I'm going to have fun riding bulls." He was however quick to add, "Nothing comes easy riding bulls though." The undisputed champion has PBR career earnings of $2,835,249.
