Bull riding administration performs the first “cut” of the season following the PBR Sacramento Invitational. The following are in jeopardy of being cut from the tour following Sacramento this weekend should they not earn the points/money needed to keep them on the tour:
• Lee Akin • Brendon Clark • Chad Denton • Allan Moraes • Corey Navarre • Luke Snyder • Willis Trosclair • Cody Hart (World Champion Exemption Status)

Once the guys get cut.. who ever they might be.. it is going to be extra hard to get back on tour... they use to take alternates from qualifier money, now it is challenger tour money only!!! Which makes it hard for those guys who have been on the BFTS, they haven't had much of a chance to ride challenger tour. I know up until now the alternates were based on last year and this years challenger tour money, but it goes to this year only.. after this weekend, or it might be after ten events? ? It is a little confusing how it is written.

So can Cody Hart be cut or not? I don't get it. As a world champion, he's allowed to compete at all BFTS events, isn't he? If that is the case, why list him?

It is a little confusing how it is written. Great point! With the addition of all of the ET events this year there is a lot more money up for grabs and therefore is going to take a lot more money to get there too. The only advantage they have is that the bigger CT events are later in the year to help them get caught up. It will be interesting to see if some guys early on choose to do one or two more CT level events before accepting a spot on the BFTS to make sure it is easier to get re-promoted if they are cut. It also means we should see more faces on tour which will be great. Oh and I think that they use this years and last years CT money to determine the CT alternates for the first 10 events as it is stated. But it is very confusing since they have it listed in reference to it as part of the initial qualifying which is normally 5 events. So it may be up to whoever is figuring them that day

yeah but if Cody is off tour, don't they usually have 45 guys plus him? They did this in the past.

Yes Kelly if the champion is not one of the 45 qualified riders on tour he becomes an additional 46th rider.

Like you said about some of the guys turning down BFTS, to get more CT money, that is exactly what we were thinking. Dustin choose not to go to CA, he said he already has OKC, and if he does well this weekend he could pass Austin up in CT money. Which would be weird, they have been traveling together, along with Jeremy Taylor, since KC. But if you don't do well and get cut, you want that CT standing to last.

There's a lot of good guys that got cut. I'm really surprised that Brendon got cut. But I haven't been keeping up on the PBR a lot. God Bless

Wy- Brendon isn't cut yet... he is in jeopardy if he doesn't do well in the two events this weekend. The cut is following Sacramento which is tomorrow.

He can compete, he will not be seeded This may sound stupid, but what does that mean?
P.S. It's going to be near impossible for Brendon to stay on the BFTS. I hope he does well tonight and tomorrow!!!!! I don't want to see him go!!!!

Bad news - he bucked off again last night. He must do something today or he's gone. As must guys like Allan Moraes, Lee Akin, Luke Snyder, Corey Navarre, Willis Trosclair, and Nick Landreneau, among others, all on the chopping block. And especially Luke - doesn't he have a streak of 100-something events going (since joining in '01)? If so, it'll be broken and JW's long streak will still be untouched (and even so it might well remain untouched, perhaps).
And I thought that since the exemption rule went into effect, World Champions (like Cody Hart) could never get cut? Sure, maybe he could BE cut, but he could always compete anyway (save for the Finals should he not qualify)? And isn't it something the champs have to sign up for every year or something to that degree?

It was a nice weekend because Mike Lee got things going, but it was a tough weekend for a lot of my other favorites on the cut line.
Brendon is definitely one of my top favorites, and it was tough seeing his interview with Tava last night. He looked completely deflated. I think he said it best when he said he was trying too hard perhaps. He will get things straightened out and get back to the BFTS soon hopefully.
Also, it was tough to see Lee Akin only ride 1 bull this weekend. Corey Navarre might have done enough to stay on tour, but Lee probably didn't.
I thought I saw somewhere where the cut isn't until this week's event in OKC. If that is the case, Lee Akin will at least get to ride in OKC. And hopefully, he will ride a couple and make it to the short-go. The same goes for Brendon.
Is the cut this week, or was it Sacramento? The PBR always sucks when it comes to the cut-line info.
