Due to the nature of the sport and the television contracts many bullriding and rodeo events are not played live. As a result frequently results information is available elsewhere or even from people at the events. We do not want to prevent the posting of this information and the discussion that it can create but we also know that many people do not want to know the outcome of the event before they are able to view it. In the past this has meant that those people are unable to read posts during the weekend events. To alleviate this problem we have come up with some guidelines for posting spoilers that will hopefully allow us to identify when spoilers are posted so those wishing not to read them can still view the board. So with out further ado:
1. A new Message Icon that is a smiley holding a sign that says spoiler is available. Select Lamp in the message icon list to add it (I am working on a name change but it should work until I get the name change to work) Please use the icon when posting results prior to the event broadcast or within 12 hours of the event (remember events may play at different times due to timezone differences).
2. If posting a spoiler thread please make the topic heading generic as to not give away the spoiler. For example OKC Results rather then Jody Newberry Wins. Or Congrats OKC winner in the rider forum rather then Congrats Jody.
3. If you are posting a spoiler in a thread that was already started that was not started as a spoiler you can still use the same process and it will mark your response as a spoiler! In this case it will not mark the entire thread but your individual response only. For example if the discussion is regarding the performance of a certain bull and the bull is in this weeks event and gets ridden for 96 points in the short go but the event has not yet aired please add the spoiler message icon. (It has also been added as a general smile for those that may want to add it that way. Just start your message with the smile and scroll down a bit and leave your post.)
4. The guidelines are only for events that will air with in 3 days of the original event. For example if a CBR event takes place this weekend and will not air until March go ahead and post the results and discuss.
If you need any assistance in how to add the Icons please do not hesitate to ask!
