Phoenix - my first PBR Built Ford Tough event. We had great seats. The fan club seating at least for this event was really good. There were a couple 90+ rides, a tribute to Rob Smets, and it was great fun to see the guys in the booth drinking brews. Okay, I only saw one drinking, but where there are brews.... But I digress. Flint was hilarious and danced with one of the women in the crowd on the dugout in front of us. Everything seems so much smaller in person! The Chase Field building is wonderful, with windows and an open roof, and the weather couldn't have been nicer. All in all, I'm glad I went. I have been to two "minor league" events and they were absolutely wonderful too. I can now say I've been to the big leagues now! The pictures are here www.pbrfanatic.com/2006Feb12PBR/ They're not the greatest, but they're my pictures and I'll truly enjoy the memories.

It was pretty good. It wasnt as exciting as last years or 2004's event (probably because it was just one long round) but it was good. Did you see Flint give the drunk guy his hat? Then the drunk guy asked for his shirt, it was pretty funny.

Then the drunk guy asked for his shirt, it was pretty funny. I also liked when Flint was talking to the crowd and some man flashed his chest (pulled up his shirt) and Flint said "Oh I do NOT want to see that." That one made us laugh a lot.

Update: I watched Phoenix on video the other night and was watching it with interest. I felt like at the event there was something odd. One thing that struck me is that the seats were way back from the fence. Most events, it seems like people are right there, right up next to the fence; in Phoenix, we were not. The V shape of the gates made for odd viewing as well. I suspect they did this due to the fact that they were on a baseball field and the seats made it possible to try something different. The riders and bulls were farther away, though. This made it hard to see good rides without the use of binoculars. The good news, for me, is that I was a skosh disappinted, having had a better view and experience at the minor league events, but now that I've seen it on television as well as in person, I see it was the event itself that was the problem. Here's hoping they don't diddle too much with the physical setup of these events.
Oh, last thing, people were tired, tired, tired from the day before in Anaheim, so apparnetly not all of the riders were up to their peak performance on the Sunday we saw them.
Bottom line, I'd go again.
