That's right, they posted draws for the first 2 rounds of Kansas City on the PBR site. Since I don't want to outdo the Cody's in terms of the matchups I'll only pick five from each round. Some good bulls at this event, as you can see....looks like Jerry Nelson will be workin' double duty bringing his bulls to both this event and Ft. Worth. Interesting. Anyway, matchups, matchups....
-ROUND 1-
Jason Bennett on Cat Daddy - Jason is still riding well but this bull will be a true test for him. This is the Cat Daddy that Bryan Richardson was 95 on last year at the Xtreme Bulls event in Guthrie. But in the PBR he's been unridden and will continue that streak in round 1. Cat Daddy wins this one.
Matt Bohon on Double Vision - Matt finally sprang back to life in Reno last week, and this is a bull he should flat-out have no problem with. He should be in the mid to upper 80's here.
Dan Henricks on Dixie Chicken - The bull has been ridden 8 out of 18 times, but should not pose a problem for Dan who's back and riding well again. I'll pick Dan to ride him for a mid to upper 80's kind of a score.
Edgard Oliveira on Just a Dream - Yup, a short-go bull giving the fans an early round treat. Edgard has ridden some rank ones early on in his career, but the way Just a Dream's been bucking, I still have to go with the bull here.
Cody Whitney on Palace Station Deuces Wild - Now here's a long-round matchup for the books! We know Cody can ride the rank bulls, but he hasn't had the kind of season he'd like to have. And yeah, the bull's been ridden a bit lately but I think he's getting better. I'm going with Deuces Wild on this one.
-ROUND 2-
Jared Farley on Sports Machine - A rematch from OKC, and I like both competitors a lot. Jared rode the hair off him last time and guess what? I think he'll prove this time that it wasn't a fluke the last time out. He can win the go-round on this one; I'm pickin' the Aussie to get it done.
Dustin Hall on Here's Your Sign - Another great matchup. Tough one here, though: Dustin's back to the form he showed us in the early millenium, and Here's Your Sign's a bull that you can be some points on, but based on the records, I'm giving the advantage to the bull on this one. Dustin can ride but the bull is a rank one, that's for sure.
Dusty LaBeth on Best Western - Dusty's kinda cooled off lately, and this bull is a superstar in the making. They've ridden him a few times but they've been for good scores. Best Western will win the battle here.
Luke Snyder on Rockin' Robin - It's funny: this bull was seldom ridden in the other rodeo associations, but since they've brought him to the BFTS, he's NEVER bucked anyone off. And I don't think he'll do it to Luke either (I'll be surprised if he does though). Luke seems to finally be finding his form again (albeit slowly, perhaps), and this is a bull that he can get along with. Upper 80's, I predict here.
Sean Willingham on Huskers Red - This bull has had a couple of off-days recently, though the guys still can't seem to cover him. Sean is on fire right now, having won 2 of the last 3 events, but with the tricks and moves this bull knows, and I hate to say it, Sean will fall victim to the crafty Huskers Red this time.
So, any thoughts on these matchups? Again, I'm not trying to outdo the true professionals (the Cody's, specifically). But there are so many matchups I couldn't POSSIBLY do 'em all. I can't wait to see the event on TV....
