Have you heard of a reason for the cancellation? I thought that booking a flight 4 days before I would be able to avoid any possible cancellations of the events. The PBR is also very very delayed in informing people that the event has been canceled. There is still no official press release that has been issued. If it was not for an email from one of the stock contractors that was supposed to be there and was told this afternoon it was canceled I would have never even thought to look and would have been stuck with a non-refundable airline ticket. This is a big black eye to start off the 2008 season.
It is one thing to change or move an event that is 6 months or even a month out. It is quite another to make a change the same week as the event. Since many airline tickets etc require a 7-14 day cancellation it is also going to leave a lot of fans out a large amount of money. To even change the ticket dates is usually a minimum of a $50.00 fee. I would think that both the PBR and fans are going to lose a large sum of money on this deal. Hopefully we will get an explanation shortly.

Wow. This is quite shocking. So much for a fresh start in 2008....I agree Terri, the PBR shoots themselves in the foot yet again. And its employees wonder why their fans abandon them for other organizations.
This is coming from a major PBR fan.

Here is the official press release that was posted later last night: PBR's Cincinnati Invitational Rescheduled New Dates Set for September 2008 MEDIA CONTACT: Denise Abbott VP, PR & Marketing 719.242.2800, ext. 3381 office 719.440.0565 cell dabbott@pbrnow.com PUEBLO, Colo. (November 26, 2007) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) announced today that the Cincinnati Invitational has been rescheduled to September 2008 at the U.S. Bank Arena. The event was originally scheduled for this Friday & Saturday, November 30 & December 1. "As we worked to expand the 2008 Built Ford Tough Series schedule to thirty-four total events, I scheduled the Cincinnati event to occur shortly after the completion of the 2007 PBR World Finals with the expectation that all riders, staff and other production elements would be ready to go," explained PBR CEO Randy Bernard. "Over the years, PBR events have become more complex and we were just not able to get the set design and production elements up to the standards we expect. We have a large and loyal fan base in the Cincinnati area, and rather than proceeding with an incomplete show, we felt it was in the best interest of those many fans that we reschedule this event to later in the season." The tickets that have already been sold will be honored for the later date. Should any fans desire a refund they should contact the outlet through which they purchased the tickets to make the appropriate arrangements. The PBR is the premier bull riding organization in the world, boasting contestants from Mexico, Australian, Brazil, and Canada. Its events air weekly on VERSUS, NBC and FOX and in recent years it has been tagged the ‘fastest growing sport in the country'. For more information on the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. or Built Ford Tough Series' Cincinnati Invitational, please visit www.pbrnow.com or call Denise M. Abbott at 719 242 2800 ext. 3381. I have to say that I was really hoping for a better explanation then not having the "production" ready. If there was the possibility that they were not going to be ready there is no reason that they could not have used the same show from the end of last year. To be honest most of us come to see the bulls and the cowboys, the rest is just peripheral. I also find it hard to believe that they could not have anticipated these issues last week. They forget that many fans make this a destination or a special event and make arangements from airfare to vacation to child care that can not just simply be moved or rescheduled on such short notice. I also sincerely hope that they work to help compensate the riders and contractors in some way. They require riders to attend the BFTS events and I can tell you that Cincinnati is not cheap to fly to. Most of them already had tickets purchased etc. It is hard enough to make money at this sport to also now leave them with several hundred dollars of added expenses and unable to compete. Many of the contractors had committed their bulls and made arrangements to have them hauled. They too lose out in the end.

I've watched every event in the past 7 years so I am seriously addicted. I missed one event because I was relying on the PBR website tv listings and the event was not on it. PBR apologized to me and told me to go by my local listings instead. I'm going to look up X-treme bulls and watch that. I love Don Gay anyway.
