Well with Luke its probably something subconscious and true in PBR there isnt much room for fear. But half the country is too afriad to even go near a bull so I wont criticize anyone. Even though im not afriad of bulls im sure if I had been riding for years and getting abused like that my mind would set to try and protect my body. Aint there that guy in PRCA who is afriad to fly so he drives everywhere? Everyones got a flaw. I wouldnt blame a cowboy for always landing on his knees if he favored his ankle.

Todd, I for one was thinking the same thing about Luke. As a matter of fact, I have been thinking the same thing about him. I say clear the way for someone who is going to give 110% effort instead of 50%. He should have been cut a long time ago.
And I know I could be criticized for saying this because I don't ride, but it's the same way in all other sports too. There are going to be guys that just don't give the "try" as much as others. And Luke is definitely at the top of that list in the PBR right now.
I have my own opinions as a spectator, and that's what I see. It's easy to see other guys pouring much more of their hearts out on every ride.
On a sidenote, Adriano pretty much half-assed it tonight as well. I don't care if he thinks he was fouled or not, he should still put out the effort. He is the complete opposite of the Adriano of last year just like the announcers stated.

Perreira tried his guts out is looked to me...And Luke has been cut from the tour but because of injuries and his place in the CT standing he got brought back up

The riders that are pulled from the CT ranks each week to fill in for injuries not only have to get pulled in but also have to accept the call. For example, BJ Schumacher is ranked 5th on the CT tour right now but if he got the call for KC he would have said no this week as he had the Xtream Bulls and Pace event this weekend. As a result, they move further into the CT tour rankings, so in some cases we see lower ranked riders by the higher ranked riders choice.
As I posted on the old board too. Luke is one of my favorite riders but I would like to see him go back to the CT tour for a little while and get his confidence and his mental game back. Get a few good rides back under his belt and come back stronger.

I talked to B.J. in Reno and he said he did get a call to compete in Kansas City, but turned it down. He likes the option of doing the challenger tour and the PRCA because it gives him more opportunities to make money. Once he makes the BFTS tour, he is required to go to those events or get suspended for a year. If he does well on the CT, he can still qualify for the World Finals, just like Fred Boettcher did last year.
He said next year, he'll probablyhave to make a decision on which tour to ride on.

I did think it was a good thing that Luke dropped to CT. I think he got placed back too soon, but what can you do. He's one of my favorite riders, but he needs to get some good rides under his belt. So I guess I agree with everything WI8SecFan said.

I think he is cut right now but has been riding as an alternate (which is why his long current event streak is still in tact). I wish he'd put one together on the BFTS soon but Gaffney said it best - he just needs to get his head straight again, and the CT might well be the best thing for Luke.

well i havent been watching the bft series for too long, so my opinion probably wont have much effect..but heres what i think about luke. When i watch him ride it really looks like (to me) he is "trying" ....but mentally he is throwing himself off. Idk if that makes sense to yall. Like does it look like he over uses his free arm...gets it way behind him, throwing him on his pockets and out the back door? I think he is trying so hard to get back that its making him overthrow all his moves...instead of matching the bulls. Maybe he needs to stop "exaggerating" those moves..(i cant think of the word i mean..but thats similar enough hopefully) Because it almost appears to me that he starts out pretty good but in the next two or three seconds he starts getting all out of wack. Mentally frustrated..mentally overworking the moves and free arm. I agree that he needs to be cut. Like they said.."go home..get on some bulls...go back to the basics." I just wanted to make note that he is IMO "trying".

i tell you what you have some great eyes in the 2.0 seconds he is on i sometimes blink and boom it is over. I bet you could just hold on for at least 3. I have never done bullriding but i bet i could purposely fall off a horse in longer than three seconds Dude jumps off. WEll....I watch reruns after reruns. Its almost like i study each ride...im still learning, always loving. Im sure im not the only one. ;D Now dismiss the question "is he trying or not?" thats not the question i was trying to ask. Im just wondering if the way he rides (of what you have seen), does it look like that could possibly be the problem (if he is trying)? I am just personally wondering. If not why not. once again just personally wondering.

Do you always have to make fun on the riders? First Cory Rasch now Luke. I could understand it if you actually rode bulls but you don't. Just exactly what have you done to validate your opinions? Please no barrel racing mumbo jumbo at least i bulldogged and that is a tough sport and you have to be tough to last a whole season. Lmao I have spoken the truth quit being that little girl with stars in her eyes and see them for who they are. Luke has struggled and been down right pathetic. Cory rasch Frankly i could careless if he rides a 100 or does not no big deal i just don't care for them. You know you have your guys that you dont root for.
