I was surfing e-Bay and came across the 1996 world finals 3rd round winners buckle. I e-mailed the private seller and they informed me it was being sold for an "Owen W". I remember that Owen Washburn won the 1996 finals at MGM Garden Arena on TNN, but can anyone tell me who won the third round. If it was Troy Dunn, I am going to offer $500 even though $405 by someone didn't meet the reserve. Merry Christmas from Franklin, TN Charlie [ftp]http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8244102490&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT[/ftp]

Charlie- Just to clarify... Owen Washburn won the world title in 1996 and placed 19th at finals. Ronnie Kitchens won the "Bud Light World Finals". Here are the many guys it could be. I know that most of the money won came from the average since Ronnie won a check for $100,000 for wining the average (he also rode all 5 bulls):
1996 Bud Light Finals Place Rider Money Won 1 Ronny Kitchens $129,950.00 2 Adriano Moraes $120,800.00 3 Jerome Davis $89,133.33 4 Troy Dunn $53,300.00 5 David Fournier $48,416.66 6 Gilbert Carillo $44,300.00 7 Tuff Hedeman $44,150.00 8 Donald Owens $31,650.00 9 Bubba Dunn $30,000.00 10 Owen Dunn $27,300.00 11 Aaron Semas $19,800.00 12 Cody Hart $18,983.33 13 Wayde Joyal $17,500.00 14 Mark Cain $15,833.33 15 Curt Lyons $13,000.00 16 Dale Gideon $12,500.00 17 David Lance $12,500.00 18 Royd Doyle $11,250.00 19 Owen Washburn $11,150.00 20 J.W. Hart $9,000.00
I can also tell you that Adriano won the final round but that's it.
Honestly, I don't think Troy Dunn would be selling any of his buckles... I would think it is a lesser known rider or possibly Tuff Hedeman.

Well they bumped the buckle up to $2,000 reserve on e-Bay, but still can't tell me who won it in 1996 nor where the buckle came from. If they get two grand for the mystery buckle, I have a bridge in Arizona they can sell next. cowboy4443

Really. I wouldn't buy it if they won't even tell me who it's from.

Owen Dunn (Troy's brother) won the 3rd go round of the 96 PBR Finals on K9 Dog Face for 90.5 pts.

This whole auction is suspicious to me... I wonder if this is a legitimate sale or if the buckle was stolen and now being sold?!?!?

Well great things happen when the 8 Second Addiction members get together. With a little help from Josh Peter, author of Fired Twinkies, Buckle Bunnies and Bull Riders we were able to contact Owen about the auction. Josh has posted all about it on his blog: www.friedtwinkies.com/blog/Now lets all keep our fingers crossed that the current owner does the right thing and can work out a deal to get the buckle back to Owen. Two big thumbs up to Charlie (I will buy you a Corona for this at the NFR) for first spotting this and to Longhorne for solving the mystery of who the rightful owner is!

Ain't it funny how things just snowball?! A big thanks to everyone, beginning with Charlie on up to Josh (and everyone in between), who helped solve this mystery and get the buckle returned to its rightful owner. Like Terri says, sure hope the current owner does the right thing! Who knew that this board could actually do good deeds along with being good, clean entertainment!

I agree Dana... How great are we at the board? Finding long lost buckles and (hopefully) getting them back to their rightful owners.
Charlie you keep up your good e-baying skills!! LOL ;D
BTW- Terri- I am glad to see nobody auctioned off their hard earned buckle knowingly!
