I guess it looks like that Justin is going to be in Worcester after all! Im really excited considering that 1 of the 2 events im going to this year. I think all the things said that he was going to be out anywhere from mid Febuary to April were all wrong!

I think I read somewhere he planned on attending Worcester but then would be taking time off after that to consult a surgeon.

Yeah, he has always said he'd be at Worcester. I think the missing Minneapolis had more to do with it being a holiday (since that is what they announced to us at the event, nothing about injuries) and spending time with family.
I do know that he will be gone all of April because Jill and him are expecting their first baby and he wants to be their for it. He has also decided to skip at least three other events besides April and Minne.

Agent: Reports anger McBride as champion returns to action January 5th, 2006 by Josh Peter OLN’s Brett Haber said Justin McBride told the PBR he planned to skip eight events this season. Tandy Freeman, director of the tour’s sports medicine program, said McBride wouldn’t be back until February. OLN’s Justin McKee said it was all such a shame.
And after hearing of the reports that aired on OLN’s telecast last weekend, McBride apparently wondered, “What the hell are they talking about?’’
Tony Garritano, McBride’s agent, on Thursday confirmed that the PBR’s reigning champion will return to action Friday at the three-day Worcester (Mass.) Classic and said reports that his client will skip eight events are inaccurate.
“He’s pissed,’’ Garritano said of McBride. “He called me and said, ‘Hey, what the hell’s going on? Well, screw ‘em. Now I’m really going to kick their asses.’
“All this reporting from last week sure fueled an extra hunger if there was any that may have went away. …You got to understand, he’s got sponsors and a lot of commitments. From a business perspective, it certainly causes problems.
He skipped the Minneapolis Invitational last weekend, prompting speculation about his status and the reports that aired on OLN. In an interview last week with friedtwinkies.com, Garritano said McBride was sitting because the rider was nursing nagging injuries and wanted time off after a busy schedule that followed the World Finals.
McBride’s wife, Jill, is due to give birth to the couple’s first child April 4, and Garritano said McBride plans to take off about 10 days before the birth and about 10 days after the birth and during that time miss no more than four events “given that everything’s fine with the pregnancy and the delivery,’’ Garritano said.
Anybody who thinks McBride’s lost his edge after winning his first world championship is about to learn otherwise, Garritano added.
“I think now you’re going to see him ride better because I think now the pressure is off of him,’’ he said. “He can go out and just ride and compete for a world championship versus feeling, ‘I need to win this thing because I don’t want to be the guy that never won and should’ve.’’

I'm glad to hear this... I was hoping that Justin was not losing his drive to ride bulls. I was going to say, if he is taking so much time off, why not get that surgery?

BTW, does anyone else think Justin's agent sucks? I mean, why is Justin calling him asking what is going on to get action. Aren't agents supposed to be right on that when it happens? Also the way his agent worded that other statement about why he is missing Minneapolis!

Yeah I have a feeling the agent panicked and did not know what to say. He needs to be put in his place.
I am glad to see that Justin is coming back and he is using his championship exemption just how he should. I can not wait to see him make another run at the title!
Go Justin!

I agree about the agent. All this should have never surfaced in any way, shape, or form. It really isn't any of our business why he wasn't riding, but when the agent said those things, it became our business.....kinda. Honestly, I'm glad McBride still has the fire and drive to ride bulls. But after thinking it over, the PBR would be great whether or not he was riding or not. Of course he helps a ton, but it could go on even if he lost his desire. That's how many great riders are in the PBR.

You know that's a great point. McBrides agent should have just came out and released a statement saying that Justin was planning on missing the Minneapolis event and would be returning for the Worcester event. If that had been done before his picture disappeared from the PBR page and rumors starting flying maybe some people (mainly his fans and sponsors) wouldn't be so ticked. What good is an agent if he's not protecting your image?

Cody.. that is a great point.. No one rider would ruin the PBR.. Just this year we lost some old greats (sad as it was) but look at the new guys we've gained.. I don't think the PBR is lacking in the talent department

When i heard the reports last weekend in Minnesota, it seemed that they kept extending the time when Justin would be absent. I think Justin has a right to be pissed, they made him seem like he doesnt care anymore, which obviously he does! Glad to see that hes Running for the World champ again.
GO JUSTIN!!!

Justin could save himself some money and misunderstandings if he'd get rid of the agent and do his own talking. An agent is good for handling business interests, but IMO the way his agent worded the release about Justin skipping Minneapolis led to the speculation. Good to see Justin back.
