Im glad that he got supended. but i personally think 1 yr is too long -KG- I agree. If he had slugged him, then a year makes sense. A shoulder check justifying a year? Give me a break! Just a bit over-the-top but hey, it stinks to be the guy they choose to make an example of.

For comparison the PRCA considers Edgard's actions a Class IV offense. They define it as "any physical contact with a judge in the rodeo arena" and it is punishable by up to one year suspension and up to $10,000 in fines.

A 1-year suspension for what Edgard did is silly at best. I agree he should have been suspended, but to take away an entire year of competition is ridiculous.
If it would have been Adriano Moraes or Chris Shivers, they might have been suspended for an event or two. But it wouldn't have been a year, I guarantee that. I know Moraes and Shivers probably wouldn't do that in the first place, but it's the basic principle here that I'm trying to get at.
A year is just too long. I hope he comes back in dominant fashion next year, if he even returns at all.
And this is coming from someone who isn't a fan of the Brazilians by any stretch of the imagination.

I have to agree that if Adriano or Chris did it, the punishment probably wouldn't be so severe, but I think it should be. He was out of line and I think it's apropriate. He'll get a chance to try other Bull Riding associations and create a new fan base and still be able to make money. So, there are ups and downs.
