I have always been curious as to exactly why Tuff "disagreed" w/ the board members and what was so bad that he left as president and board member.
I have done searches (just curious it has always made me wonder) to see exactly what the reason was and everyone keeps hush hush about it.
If anyone knows please let me know. I like both Ty Murray & Michael Gaffney as commentators and am used to Tuff not being on the PBR, but would like to know why he left.
I have done many searches online and even on this page trying to figure out why, perhaps no one knows and no one is telling from either party? I have known Joe Merrick since I was little and when I questioned him he was pretty quiet about it as well, maybe everyone has been instructed to tell no one?
If you know please indulge me, guess I am just nosey and have always wondered.
Later, Julie

Theres a lot of speculation about what happened, but the truth is, nobody knows except PBR executives and Tuff himself. There is one person on this board that MIGHT know, but I doubt he/she will share that information.

I guess none of us will ever know. I knew it was a disagreement of some sort, but it seems odd that Tuff started the PBR and just left it, that must've been hard.
I know someone that knows too, but they aren't saying.
I'm sure there is a way to word it that would suggest what really happened w/out saying what really happened.
Oh well, perhaps someday we'll really know. It is respectable thought that neither parties discuss it.
thanks anyway.

I've heard a couple of rumors one was a disagrement over some sponsorship stuff, the other was that he left because he didn't agree with the new points system.
I don't know if either of those are the real reason or not.....like you said, maybe someday we'll really know.

The reason Tuff left PBR was because he felt Randy Bernard was making commercial decisions that were in PBR's favor and not in the riders best interest. In another words Randy was looking out for his pocket book and Tuff was looking out for the riders. Cowboy4443

If you pick up the fried twinkies book it offers a little more insight into the parting of ways...but like most situations it is one perspective of a conflict that only the people involved are likely to ever know the full story of.

Thanks Holly for putting the pic of Jillian w/ Chris Shivers @ the OkC event this year, that is cool.
Thanks for offering the book, I will just buy one though. I can do that online right now.
I think Cowboy has it right on the money too, I do think Tuff was looking out for the riders but still what a shame that Tuff started it and gave it up, how sad.
Thanks guys for the replies, appreciate it. Julie

No one exactly knows all the resaons except for Tuff and Ron pack, There are sevral reasons Fried twinkies tells some of them but there was a long history and people change, It is a bad deal and it still bugs me how Randy treated Tuff after everything.

there is something that bothers me about Randy Bernard anyway, I don't know what it is, perhaps in a sense he reminds me of Haber? Maybe I see the similarity b/c of the sports coats? That wasn't nice of me to say I guess, but that is an honest impression I have.
Why should Randy have all the pull when Tuff started it? I wonder if Randy Bernard put his money in to start it up.
Too bad everyone can't be "happy" but that is what happens when you are dealing w/ lots of money & many people involved.
I still LOVE THE PBR! I have tried to watch the CBR, but the Outdoor Channnel isn't good quality video & I guess since I don't follow the CBR I am not able to just watch it all the time.
Thanks for everyone's posts!
Julie
P.S. Holly bring that book when you come to your appt.

Randy wasnt one of the founders. He was doing marketing for the Calgary Stampede and in line to take a position at the PRCA before Tuff and the boys grabbed him.
Randy runs a good portion of the show, thats why he carries so much weight. He isnt exactly likeable if you read his quotes, but he is a stern businessman. If you dont have good businessmen, you wont have a good business, period. The record of growth that the PBR has experienced in the past ten years is incredible, due in part to Randys aggressiveness. I really wish they would offer stock to the public!

In another words Randy was looking out for his pocket book and Tuff was looking out for the riders. Cowboy4443 This makes the most sense and it is also what I have "heard" from the time he left. It started out to be about the riders and the bulls and has strayed to such a commercial venture. I still enjoy the events and will continue to watch, at least on OLN, but I can see a big difference since I began several years ago.

CB- I couldn't agree more... Randy is the reason the PBR is as big as it is. I am not going to even try to predict why Tuff left... I doubt any of us will EVER know, both sides will always have different stories.
As for Randy... On a personal note... He is a VERY nice and a pretty charismatic guy. HE IS NOTHING LIKE HABER. I have met both in person and Randy is a guy you would want to talk to and Brett is not. In Jacksonville some of the bull riders offered Randy a beer and poked fun of him saying he had to stay there and drink it because otherwise he would just throw it away. Randy was a good sport when they all ragged on him and even shot back a few remarks. I can't say enough good things about Randy, I really respect the man and away from the business world he is a nice guy.
