From the Fried Twinkies Blog:
Someone better remind Brett Haber where the “off’’ button is on his headsets.
During a commercial break in the OLN telecast Saturday night, Haber apparently forgot to turn off his headset while Brian Herman was in the chute on Black Sports Coat. Herman was trying to get settled as the bull thrashed about the chute. Herman climbed out of the chute after he was granted a re-ride, but not before Haber, OLN’s play-by-play man, said, “Nod your head you f—— hillbilly. You’re not going to ride anyway.’’
While the viewers at home couldn’t hear the remark live, everyone with access to the in-arena monitors could. That included riders in the locker room, and word quickly got back to Herman.
After the event ended, Herman went looking for Haber – and he wasn’t alone. Fellow riders J.W. Hart, Chris Shivers and Mike Lee showed up outside the makeshift broadcast booth.
Joe Loverro, producer for the OLN telecasts, intercepted the riders before they could get to Haber and apologized on behalf of OLN for the remark. But Herman waited for the play-by-play man.
Eventually Haber emerged.
“I don’t think I got a word in edgewise,’’ Herman, a veteran rider, said Tuesday during a telephone interview. “As soon as (Haber) got out the door, he was like, ‘Brian, I’m sorry. It wasn’t directed at you. …It was just a broad statement. I didn’t even know you were in the chute.’
“I’m sorry was good enough for me. I’ll see him next week and it ain’t going to be no deal.’’
Loverro spent 30 minutes to 45 minutes trying to calm down the riders. Any physical altercation was avoided.
Attempts to reach Haber for comment were unsuccessful.

Glad he got caught. Sure woulda liked to seen the riders have their way with him. Too bad "western justice" didn't prevail....I always knew he was an arrogant s.o.b., although I've never met him. Sure hopes this makes OLN rethink their (bad) choice.....

I don't think that any producers apology is going to be enough. I think that Brian let him off easy. Haber deserves a great big a$$ kicking and I hope he gets one.

First off, I can't see Haber saying that while sitting beside G-Man and McKee. I think one of those guys would have decked him first. This story is very shaky in my opinion. If it did happen, then it was completely wrong and showed a lack of class, among other bad qualities. But the whole thing is iffy to me. I definitely have my doubts. But if it is true, then he should have taken a major butt whippin.

Sounds like an odd story, I cant really see him saying that he does seem arrogant but i still cant see him saying that to be honest.

***Cody, I don't know if I didn't the quote thing right...I hope so. I am still learning how to do all this computer jazz.
Anyway, I just wanted to assure you from an inside source that this is VERY TRUE! Jody told me first hand the info BEFORE I read it on the blog...so Josh has the story correct. And, it is my understanding that it will be up for discussion at the rider's meeting this weekend in St. Louis. I don't know for sure what the outcome will be, but there are speculations...and it has been said that it "will be left up to the riders." If that's true, he's probably gone...but hearsay is just that. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that Josh isn't exaggerating this one at all. It's the same "word for word" quote that Jody told me on Saturday night.
God bless, Amanda

WOW! IF, and it seems like a pretty BIG IF, he gets a Tony Lama up his hindend I wonder who they'll get to replace him? I may recieve some grief about this but I think that Greg Hummer has done a pretty good job with the events that he's done....defiantely my pick but knowing my luck it'll be the second coming of Haber!

Thanks Amanda for the insight!! I just don't even know what to say about the whole situation! I can completely understand that the riders wouldn't want people saying those things about them. Whether they have a mic on or not!! I think that if Brett acted like this one time that he would probably do it again! Who knows...I am sure the riders will make the right decision at the meething this week!!

Yeah, I am extremely shocked on the situation too.
All I can say is, if they get rid of him, here is what I propose: get rid of Tava (she just doesn't cut it IMO) as well and replace her with Craig Hummer. Then make Justin McKee the main play-by-play man and Gaffney as his sidekick (and on occasion use Ty Murray also, and perhaps bring in Jerome Davis as a third guy every now and then!). And get rid of Kenny Rice and Donna Brothers on NBC and make McKee the main man there as well (and Hummer behind the chutes again).

Oh I like the Jerome Davis idea. I always thought he was awesome when he was in the booth!! Great idea!

Thanks so much Amanda! I just can't believe G-Man and McKee didn't do anything first. Yeah, it was pretty ignorant thing to do on Haber's part. People are supposed to be forgiving, but like Holly said, he would probably do it again in the future if he had the chance. I think they should probably get rid of him and get someone else. If they got Jerome Davis, I would be a happy camper! He very well could be the best announcer I've heard in my two years as a PBR fan. And Justin McKee already proved he could be the lead guy. He did good the couple times Haber was gone. McKee, G-man, and Davis would be a great trio. Edit: Also, I think Brian Herman's reaction is being lost in the shuffle. How good of a guy is he not to get to stirred up by this? That shows a lot of class on his part in my opinion. Two thumbs up to Herman for not getting out of line when he probably could have without any remorse.
