You're right! I am calling in the am and switching. I am SO mad at my husband. I told him to call this am (dish) and they told him once again they are trying to "negotiate". I do not think anyone knows and I like everyone else say the negotiating is off. Either way I am ready to switch. I will be watching the finals. I feel like even if Dish were to get OLN back it is the principle. They pulled the plug b/c OLN (comcast) didn't give them what they expected, I subscribed to a package w/ OLN and in my opinion I didn't get what we signed up for and paid for either. It can go both ways for all of us. I am going to call DIRECTtv myself I guess, he is busy sowing wheat and my finals aren't much of a concern right now to him.(lets don't forget I can make his life *@##!! ) I'll take care of it. Enjoyed reading everyones post. I may have to go to Cody & Holly's, poor guys! : )

Gimmee8 I do not think the World Finals is on the radio yet, but I could be wrong. I think they have tossed that idea around but not yet. I know the PBR did a survey to see if anyone would subscribe to SIRIUS radio if it were on there, unsure, maybe someone else knows the answer to this.

*big contented sigh* The DirecTV technicians just left my house after installing the new system. I am NOW ready for the Finals! Yeeha! I checked DishNetwork for OLN before they disconnected it just to see if OLN was available yet and nope, it wasn't. Guess they don't have the issue resolved yet. Oh well - I'm done with them. Now comes the fun part of trying to get my money back from DishNetwork, since we just paid in August for a YEAR!
Sure hope all of you that are switching to DirecTV (or other options) get up and running in time!

Jeff finally called for me today. The guys will be here on FRIDAY! (there better not be any delays!)
I am going to DIRECTV. I have to admit I really though DISH would try to get this resolved. I'm sure they lost a lot more business over this than they thought they would.
Good news for Cody & Holly, they get to watch the finals w/out me. You guys knew I was teasing all along surely!
My fingers are crossed that the install will go as planned.
I haven't even had the chance to look at finals draw etc b/c I have been obsessed w/ getting my OLN to watch it on!

Good luck on that one..they hit us for $200 to cancel, the contract was going to be up in Feb. Tina *glad to have OLN back but missing CBS and NBC * I am hoping because we had Dish for 8+ years and pay yearly that they won't hit us with any kind of cancellation fee. Our initial 1 yr contract was up many years ago. When I talked with one of the many inept operators at Dish, they told me that I would get my year's subscription payment back but it would be pro-rated. I certainly hope that's the case. If not, they are going to have one angry person to deal with!

October 30, 2005 Dear PBR Fans: As many of you are painfully aware, Dish Network made the unexpected decision as of October 20 to drop OLN from its lineup. Needless to say this has been a very frustrating development for the PBR after we and our athletes dedicate an entire season to bring one of the most exciting races in sports to our loyal fans. We have all been let down. Losing 3,300,000 households on the eve of the Built Ford Tough World Finals as the result of a negotiation between the OLN and Dish Network is unfair to our fans, our sponsors, and the PBR cowboys. In the wake of our disappointment, we felt compelled to try and cushion the blow by purchasing an additional hour of PBR broadcasting on NBC. Due to the thousands of fans who will not see the 2005 Built Ford Tough World Finals on Dish Network, the PBR will air this additional hour on NBC on Sunday, November 13 at 2 p.m. ET. While the investment is substantial, the PBR has decided that it is more important at this time to place a PBR broadcast on NBC in an effort to compensate those who will miss OLN coverage on Dish Network. The PBR wishes to thank NBC for making a time slot available at such a late date, as well as the PBR sponsors who have contributed their advertising support to this endeavor. It is the loyal fans of the PBR who deserve our thanks for their continued support. The thousands of emails and phone calls that we have read this week are a testament to your sincere concern. As most of you know Dish Network?s decision stems from a dispute between EchoStar/Dish Network and Comcast/OLN. OLN wants their programming to be part of a more widely available package on Dish, which also happens to be a lower priced package alternative to consumers. It is unfortunate that the PBR fans, sponsors and cowboys got caught in the middle of negotiations between Echostar/Dish Network and Comcast/OLN, when PBR is not involved in such negotiations. It is possible that between 50,000 and 75,000 households may be motivated to drop Dish Network in favor of DirecTV or cable which will result in an impact of approximately $20,000,000 to $40,000,000 per year. Perhaps then the PBR and our fans will be taken seriously. I encourage people to visit DirecTV.com for more information on how to watch the entire PBR World Finals on OLN. For more information or to speak with a staff member directly, please contact the PBR at 719.471.3008, email us as admin@pbrnow.com, or visit www.pbrnow.com. Sincerely, Randy Bernard CEO, Professional Bull Riders, Inc.

After getting our DirecTV hooked up and running, I called Dish to cancel our subscription. I initially talked with the obligatory English language-challenged representative who tried to convince me that staying with Dish would be a wonderful thing since, even tho they no longer offered the OLN channel, they had bullriding on a couple of other channels that would more than (in their minds) make up for the loss of OLN. Huh! Little do THEY know!!
Anyhow, in due time, I was transferred to someone who actually sounded like they may have been born and raised in the USA and who seemed capable of terminating my subscription. But first, they had to try to lure me back with exceptional offers, like free HBO, Cinemax and Starz for 3 months if I'd reconsider. Yep, sure - that'll more than make up for not being able to watch the PBR Finals.....you betcha!
Eventually my subscription was cancelled and, since having just paid for a year of Dish in August, my refund prorated. I did the math prior to making the call and came up with an amount that ended up being less than what they came up with, so I guess I have to say that, other than being pissed because of having to make the switch in the first place, it would appear that the "check is in the mail" and it's for more than I thought I'd get back. While I won't be certain of anything until that check gets here and is successfully cashed, I am relieved that my cancellation went as well as it did. I guess we'll see if that check gets here and if it's for the amount they initially quoted me.
Regarding DirecTV: I like it just as well or probably even more than I did Dish. I guess because we have a newer reciever, etc, we have so many more options than we did with our old Dish receiver, so I'm pretty pleased.
Here's to hoping we all don't hafta switch BACK (or to another one) next year!!
